Nicole Kidman is set to star in the love story The Reader. According to Variety, Ralph Fiennes will also appear in the film being produced by the Weinstein Company.

The Reader is based on German writer Bernhard Schlink bestselling novel of the same name. The story takes place in contemporary Germany, and sees a man recounting his own personal take of an erotic encounter that carries him into WWII.

Stephen Daldry is directing David Hare's screenplay adaptation. The film beings shooting in Berlin this September.
