Nicolas Cage Drops Out of The Untouchables Prequel!

It's not known whether Brian De Palma will push on with his planned prequel The Untouchables: Capone Rising. But, according to Variety, one thing is certain. Nicolas Cage will not be playing Capone as previously reported.

Cage had been in talks to revive the role originated by Robert De Niro, but his schedule could not be worked out. It was announced at Cannes last week that Gerard Butler had joined the cast. He will be playing Sean Connery's character Jimmy Malone if the film actually gets made.

Cage is currently reprising his role as Ben Gates in the sequel National Treasure: Book of Secrets, which will open December 21st, 2007.

    The Untouchables was a awesome movie but making a prequel to it doesnt seem right just let this one go and like the ppl r saying Hollywood come up with new ideas.

    This movie can be postponed untill pigs fly for all I care. Don't get me wrong, The Untouchables was great, I just see this as yet another example of how out of ideas Hollywood has gotten. I'm just tired of sequels of long dead franchises being made, and even more tired of prequels. Can we get an original idea please?
