Sarah Jessica Parker joins the New Year's Eve cast
Zac Efron and Halle Berry are also in negotiations to star in this romantic comedy, which already includes Robert De Niro, Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Biel, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank, Abigail Breslin, Sofía Vergara and Lea Michele.
Much like Garry Marshall's Valentine's Day, New Year's Eve follows several characters as they make their way through the year-end holiday in New York City. Sarah Jessica Parker will play the mother of Abigail Breslin's character, who is too clingy with her daughter.
If Zac Efron signs on, he will play a bike messenger who tries to keep a promise to Michelle Pfeiffer's character by scoring tickets to a big party. Halle Berry is in talks to play a caterer who runs into an old lover.
Garry Marshall was originally set to start shooting this month, although production has been pushed to February 1 in New York City. Second unit photography will still take place over the actual holiday.
New Year's Eve was released December 9th, 2011 and stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Zac Efron, Charlotte Marshall-Fricker, Fiona Choi, Mary Marguerite Keane, Michael Mandell, Patrick Reale, Robert De Niro. The film is directed by Garry Marshall.

i really want this movie to work out, but Valentine's Day was a disaster. i know they keep trying to recreate the magic and romance of Love Actually for other holidays, but adding dozens of stars for bit parts is not the answer.

Yay! I should go audition! I suppose this is the closest we'll ever get to "The Greatest Story Ever Told" where EVERY star of that day was in the movie. . . Hollywood we've come so far !! :(
