The flier reveals that this will be a whopping five-disc set and that the set will include a whole new film that will not only consist of the Director's Cut, but will also implement the short animated film Tales of the Black Freighter into the film. That animated tale was released on a separate DVD in March after the film's theatrical release.
It also indicates that users who sign up with the WB Insider Rewards program (WatchmenMovie.WarnerBros.com/Rewards) will receive a coupon good for $10 off this Ultimate Collector's Edition set, which will surely cost a pretty penny. Take a look at these flier images below.

Watchmen will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on July 21.

I bet the blu-ray release of the UE will have more features, such as my comment I left about the direcor's cut dvd a couple weeks ago in a story that only I commented on:
Once again, it sucks that all the extras are going to the blu-ray. Zack himself even said "...these movies are the kinds of movies that fans like to comment on. This new technology allows me to see how fans took in a particular scene. I get to see how they reacted to certain parts of the movie. That is something I am interested in."
If that were 100% true, then he'd recognize that not everyone can afford Blu-Ray Players with an HDTV, and therefore since dvd sales ALWAYS outsale any given blu-ray release, then he should therefore release all of it on the dvds as well. First "The Dark Knight," now "Watchmen." What, have the blu-ray leaders got some choke hold on the industry and are desperate for sales such that they shanghai millions of dvd venue fans of all the good extras that used to populate great 2-Disc editions that are now being substituted for this Digital Copy crap? Come on! Enough is enough already! Are they gonna do the same to "Star Trek" & "Angels & Demons" too?!
As for the Ultimate Edition, since he also said that "Tales of the Black Freigher" would be the only new thing in the film besides the 20+ minutes from the director's cut, then I'd pass on the Ultimate in favor of the Director's Cut instead, at least until more details about what will remain on the dvd version of the UE become official. I wasn't much of a fan of that comic within the comic TOTBF, though liked said concept. The payoff in it was good, but despite being a relatively short story with simple plot, then it probably doesn't need to drag on for an additional 25 minutes in the flick for a 210 minute film.
Better yet, Zack should have all 3 available on the same disc, like how the movies in the "Alien Quadrilogy" give you the option to watch the theatrical or special editions once pressing 'play movie' or whatever it is. Therefore you'd have the 165 minute theatrical cut of "Watchmen," the 190 minute Director's Cut, and the 210 minute Ultimate Cut to choose from when playing the movie. I'm sure they're all good in their own way. The Ultimate one would be for mega fans of the comic of course, while I'd be fine with the 190 minute version since "Tales of the Black Freighter" just seemed to divert from the main story, making the comic longer than necessary. Though even the theatrical cut seemed a bit long, despite that I hadn't read the comic at that time to see how close or not it was to the graphic novel. Both of them were great though.
===================================
And if the variations of the Alien films can have longer/shorter versions on the same disc, and there's a little over 2hrs of extras since otherwise it'd say 3 or 4, then what occupies the remaining 3 discs? Since that stuff could only take up 2 max.

I'll buy this, but this is the only one I'll buy, so in the long run I won't have wasted my money buying the motion comic, TOTBF, and the directors cut separately.

Err
yeah i think i'll just get the directors cut and rent the ridiculously long version from netflix when it becomes available.

AnnoyingFilmCritic
The Director's cut dvd that comes out July 21st, is an additional 20-something minutes to the theatrical release...this Ultimate edition with the Black Freighter integrated in will add another 25 minutes...that running time is too long...
