Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Star Wars fans will get an unprecedented look at the newest intergalactic adventure on Thursday, May 8, when the world-premiere trailer for the upcoming CG-animated movie Star Wars: The Clone Wars debuts across five Turner networks simultaneously.

At 7:58 p.m. in all U.S. time zones, Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS, CNN, and Boomerang will debut an action-packed, two-minute preview of the animated adventure from creator George Lucas and Lucasfilm Animation. It marks the first time a theatrical trailer has received a simultaneous, cross-network airing on Turner Networks. The trailer debuts in theaters on Friday, May 9, along with the first poster for the movie. Opening nationwide on August 15, 2008, Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

"By combining the power of the Turner Networks and the power of the Force, we're able to create a fantastic event for Star Wars fans of all ages," said Howard Roffman, vice president of Lucasfilm Ltd. "We're incredibly proud of The Clone Wars, and eager to be able to showcase it for the first time in such an exciting way."

The newest tale of adventure, intrigue and excitement in a galaxy far, far away combines the legendary storytelling of Lucasfilm and the Star Wars Saga with a signature animation style from Lucasfilm Animation.
Following its broadcast debut across the Turner Networks, the trailer for Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be available for viewing exclusively at the official Star Wars website, StarWars.com

On the front lines of an intergalactic struggle between good and evil, fans young and old will join such favorite characters as Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padme Amidala, along with brand-new heroes like Anakin's padawan learner, Ahsoka. Sinister villains - led by Palpatine, Count Dooku and General Grievous - are poised to rule the galaxy. Stakes are high, and the fate of the Star Wars universe rests in the hands of the daring Jedi Knights. Their exploits lead to the action-packed battles and astonishing new revelations that fill Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The theatrical release of Star Wars: The Clone Wars tells an all-new story that leads directly in to this fall's premiere of a weekly, animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series on Cartoon Network, followed by airings on TNT.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars was released August 15th, 2008 and stars Matt Lanter, Ashley Eckstein, James Arnold Taylor, Dee Bradley Baker, Tom Kane, Nika Futterman, Ian Abercrombie, Corey Burton. The film is directed by Dave Filoni.

You're right Ed Wood, it is completely different from the films. So it begs the question, why is it called Star Wars? Lucas is a great producer, but he should hang his head in shame for this obvious cash cow.

well it is and youre right. but just cuz its different you can still compare it. i hate the new tril but the old is good. comparing them is the same idea to comparing this with star wars. this is just attempt to milk the franchise and make some bank. it will do well in the box office but when you see it, you will be saying that it wasnt any good im sure

o come on! you SO CAN COMPARE this to the others. you cant compare realism to the cheap style of animation they went with no, but teester is right. its star wars in the name so that gives it a green light. as if you guys never compared the books to the movies. this is a different view. the newer trilogy was sh*t. we kno that. now we get this garbage that will only further tarnish its name. in my opinion a new hope, empire strikes back , and return of the jedi are the only needed mentions. the rest is a sick spin that went to the theaters and came up short. you can pretty much bet any further insallments with the star wars name in its title will continue being sh*t. thanks alot george lucas, you f*cked up a once very good thing

I'm not knocking it for being different, but if it has Star Wars in it's name, then why can't it be compared to the other films that have got the same name in. This animation is living off the stir these films created. If the original trilogy was crap, would anyone give a toss about this? Would it even be made?

Teester'X', you're not settling for something less. This is just a different avenue of the property like the "Animatrix" anime' cartoon that spun off from The Matrix movie.

Comparing this to the original SW trilogy is unfair obviously...

*The originals were breakthrough films Unlike Anything at the time, mania ensues. Today, frenzied cg cartoons are the norm.

*The originals were Live Action- no computer can act for crap, thusly, animations have nowhere near as much emotional resonance.

*The SW: Clone Wars film is intended for little kids primarily, a different demographic than the older teen to adult demo. of the original SW movies.

It's an unfair comparison...each project is a different animal, despite your tastes.

Don't think comparing it to the original trilogy is unfair. Those films set the standard, so why should we now settle for less?

Bootlegging is stealing...would you work for free?

There are cartoon spinoffs for other properties that are intended for kids, but, have some appeal to adults who grew up on them. Iron Man has a new spinoff cartoon...there's Batman, Justice League, etc.

SW: Clone Wars is a state of the art CG animation heavy on headspinning action. You've got look at in the context that it is its own thing.

Comparing it to the live action original trilogy is an unfair, apples to oranges comparison.

This 3d-ish 'toon will surely be better than the pitiful SW cartoons of the 80's...remember Droids or Ewoks? It's better not to.

Agreed the kids will love this, but what about the rest of us. Was only 4 myself when SW came out, but been a fan ever since. So to hear of this cartoon a few weeks back was a sad day for me. It's almost like the first 3 films never existed.

Way Cool poster! This will a good animated movie...especially for young kids, its intended demographic.

As far as the style, it looks like good, contemporary anime' with 3D.

Not impressed by this at all. A live action film, great. But a cartoon. Get a grip Lucas. Don't put the Star Wars title to this crap. No doubt it'll do great at the box-office, sadly, just 'cos Star Wars is in the name.
