Star Wars animated series may take place after Return of the Jedi
During the Q&A section of the panel, a fan said, "I would really love to see new adventures after Jedi with our favorite characters Luke, Han and Leia," to which Sansweet replied, "And you will, in the new animation."
All that is known about the show so far is that Robot Chicken's Matthew Seinreich will be on board as producers along with Jennifer Hill, with Todd Grimes directing. The Daily Show's Brendan Hay will be a writer on the series, which was said to use the same style of animation as the current series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi was released May 25th, 1983 and stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Sebastian Shaw, Ian McDiarmid. The film is directed by Richard Marquand.

I agree, the thrawn saga would be great, but i would still love to see the empire come to power, and everything that happens with the last of the jedi, the fallen jedi, vader, palp, boba, etc. I think everyother storyline is overkill, and barely any time was spent on this. Lastly, if there are no sith or jedi in this series, what the hell is that?

I'm crossing my fingers for the Thrawn saga.

Lucas does seem eerily fascinated with filling up the time between episodes II and III. I agree that it would be more fun to see what took place in the years between III and IV. I also think the franchise would be better served if Lucas showed how the Republic came to be. This would be a new vein of the franchise that could reinvigorate everything. Unfortunately, Lucas' goofy obsession with Anakin's turn never seems to end.

No, they are not exciting anymore. I would love to see he time period of the force unleashed (III & IV), especially the jedi purge, and vader hunting jedi, and palp's rise to power after the sith came back. These are the things that were never revealled, but always talked about. Thoughts?

YES! The Clone Wars are not that exciting! They need another series going in a different direction can't wait! Any body here a date when this airing & what network is picking this show up?

I rather have this than a series about the Clone Wars.

This sounds good! And The Clone Wars is good, so I have faith that Lucasfilm will make another successful animated series. Still waiting on the live action one.

I'll watch this, there is so much that could happen. Though I would rather see a new film trilogy, KOTOR would be a perfect setting with the right director.
The books with the children, comic books long before the Skywalker family or anything else. What ever happened to the live action Star Wars series.

I personally love the sound of this. I've read a few of the books but, it'd always be nice to see something on the big-screen or even TV.
I've got to agree with ejk 1: we have seen SO much stuff about the time period between II and III and granted there's alot of stuff that can happen but, The Clone Wars are getting played out. The time period between III and IV would be awesome, especially if they brought Galen Marek to whatever they were working on.
Regardless, let's see this happen.

I'm not a huge fan of the animation style either. The format is a little contrived as well..it's all about kids and merchandising. It should be aimed at the teen market at least. People getting decimated and sliced up...needs some heavier darkness to it, with some dirt and realism, which is what Star Wars fans love do we not?

This sounds great, but has great potential to suck. I would love to see the dark empire series animated, that would be great. There are so many new people that they can introduce, and have some dam good fight seens as well.

No problem. And I agree with WARRock's first post, 100%. The new series SHOULD be an adaptation of the books and would be sweet if it had its own animation style. The comedy could be left to R2-D2, C-3PO and droids, not to mention some Jedi. I guess sometimes the Star Wars universe is comedic, but for a series to continue the mythology, yeah, it needs to at least take inspiration from the books, like say, for instance, the Jedi Academy Trilogy, the stories of the Jedi Twins, and the New Republic after the defeat of the Galactic Empire.

the series should be an adaptation of the books & i wish he would not use the same animation he uses for The Clone Wars series.

I'd still prefer a live action series myself @insertusernamehere, especially if Lucas won't have his hands all over it like the prequel trilogy. Cartoon is fine, especially if this is to be the comedy series, but for a serious story to continue the mythology I'd say that I prefer live action and that live action in a tv series could be just as effective as any cartoon. Plus, there's already The Clone Wars cartoon.

Who knows...maybe a cartoon series is best. It definitely has more of a chance of telling more story than a movie would, as long as it's taken seriously.

The Mime kind of agree with AVATARSEQUAL on the cartoon part; they should ease up and bring the live back to life. Put some action in. What kind? Oooo..The Mime don't know, something insane that will bring the Galactic sauce back.
The Mime don't think comedy will be a problem. Well, if they're going to show Chapadahud getting humped by master Yoda, or C3P0 jacking off hanging upside down from a branch in a tree or something, then The Mime would oppose on the comedy thing. But even if it's funny, but kept the action, The Mime see's no problem in it.

Boom. Seth Green confirms what I have been saying. It really is not what you guys think. Like I said Seth is a total fanboy, he wouldn't do that to Star Wars. Check it out:

@Vanboy that was in the New Jedi Order series, when Han & Leia's Jedi Twins were already grown into adulthood, so it's pretty safe to say that is way down the road from where this story will take place. That's at least 20-25 years after ROTJ.
Also just because they got the guys from Adult Swim doesn't mean it will be a comedy. We will see. But maybe they wanted the chance to do it because it's freakin' Star Wars. They are writers, maybe they wanted to dabble in a different kind of writing, story-driven. If Seth Green really is on board like I have been hearing then I know he is a dedicated fanboy. So we will see what comes of this.

Now this I will be looking forward to. I wonder if they will get around to Chewbacca dying on that planet. Hopefully they depart from that storyline. Chewbacca dying pretty much sucked. I can't remember what book it was, but he sacrifices himself to save a bunch of kids. I think that a ship that they were escaping in was weighed down too much and he stayed behind on a sort of Genesis planet that was destroying itself. It was a while ago, that I read it, but I think that that's the way it happened.

I have never understood why Lucas was so obsessed with filling up the time between episodes II and III. Al though I would rather see something that involves the years between III and IV, and I'm not too happy with this being a comedy, at least it's something.

I don't want more cartoons. I want a live action 7, 8, and 9, and for them to NOT suck, please. Meaning stay the fvck away, Mr. George Lucas. You can put your name as a producer and finance, but no writing, no directing, and no input besides your money and your name slapped on it since it's yours.

I'm pretty sure with people from Robot Chicken and the Daily Show it'll be comedic.
I'd rather see films that take place after Return of the Jedi...not directed by Lucas.
