The modern improvements are nice, but like you said, my mind is still back when I could go to the movies, buy popcorn and a drink for under ten bucks. Now, I pay that much for the ticket.

That was also when 2-Disc DVDS were the only option (if available for the movie).

I miss the good ol' days (which was only about six years ago ;P)

    And yeah, Chad, Casey Jones!

Haha yes it was a joke. Every time I see that actor, I'm like, "Casey Jones"! haha

What's funny is that going to the movies back then was a whole lot of fun, but the theaters weren't really that high profile like they are today. The Imax, the improved 3d, reclining seats, all these new improvements and still I love going to movies back then.

Lol, I'll take 3 bucks over the 10 bucks I pay now, anytime. What was so fun about those dollar theaters were that you got free refills on your soda and popcorn.

    Point taken.

I think "automatically" was the keyword in the Bruce Willis sentence; and noted, Casey Jones is nowhere near John McClain (by the way, Jones did not pertain to my comment; that was Chad's, and he was joking).

My mention of the Cubs was an analogy to fit the "dedication" theme (they are not my favorite team). Even still, I have friends who follow the million games played each season, the training, even the practices, and wet towel fights in the locker room (might be a stretch, but you get my point). Die Hard being the appropriate definition. ;)

True, dollar theater's are a rarity. I used to frequent one that had the word "dollar" in its title, and charged 3 bucks a ticket. Irony or f*cked up. You decide. ;P

    (still cheap, though)...

Hey, don't get me wrong I think Scorcese's a great director. And if you ask me should have ownership of two Oscars for best director, one of course from Departed and should've gotten one for Casino. Directors and sports teams, I follow neither because i don't want to get disappointed by the ending product. Orioles are my team but I be damn if I'll follow them throughout 162 games. Well, if you think Casey Jones is anywhere near the greatness of Willis your f*cked up. Willis is just that great, I'm sorry. And i think you misunderstood what i said. Of course my ass would be in the seat of a Bruce Willis movie. "Unless your Bruce Willis", really re read that, man, and get it, please. I don't have a dollar theater in my town, sadly. I didn't even know those theaters existed anymore. Shutter Island is probably something I'll probably watch on a broadcast premiere while I'm fixing my traditional fudge brownies for Thanksgiving Day.

Believe me, I'm not holding on to every work Scorcese's has made, or as you so eloquently put it, his dick. ;P

Sure, his filmography, like every Hollywood show boater, has a few road bumps, but overall, he is an excellent director who has produced some exceptional films.

No. The Departed is not my bible; the Aviator is not my f*cking sports coup; and Goodfellas is not one of my family members. I follow certain movie directors and actors like avid sport fans follow their teams. The Cubs may not be the most successful, but that doesn't stop people from painting themselves blue and red to cheer on the game. With your comment about Bruce Willis ("Unless your Bruce Willis, your not automatically bringing me into a movie"), you totally refuted your statement, and further enhanced my point. Even if Bruce Willis stars in a Will Smith cyber-rip-off, I'm sure your ass will land a seat. Same deal.

I'll break it down for you with one word: dedication.

Anyway. Now that you mention it, the trailer does have a 1408 semblance to it. Sorry for overreacting on the "horror film" issue.

But come on, man, it's a least worth a visit to the dollar theater, over a trip to Blockbuster. ;)

I don't care if Casey Jones in it or not. Unless your Bruce Willis, your not automatically bringing me into a movie. Zany, your right. I just looked Shutter Island up on Wiki and it states that it's a thriller, but still that's strange because they way they're marketing this movie makes it look like an 1408 horror style type movie. By the way, stop sucking the guys dick and holding on to every work he's done like it's your most prized values. It's not like you made the f*cking movie. And your right, besides want this movie looks like it's going for based on the trailer, which is horror rather than thriller, there nothing else that looks wrong in this movie. From what I see, the performances will be top notched and everything. I'm also glad this has been sorted out, amigo, but sadly, I won't be seeing this in theaters, either DVD or online. Keep your seat.

Newkill. There's truth in your statement that Carpenter and Craven are tyrants of terror, but its preceding sentence does not fit your argument. Shutter Island is not intended to be a horror film, nor is Scorcese treading on, as you put it, "the masters of horror's" turf. The genre is slotted under "drama," and as you have noted by your unnecessary suppositions towards the movie's ending, it could also be labeled "thriller." Next time, before you feel inclined to mock the material, and one of Hollywood's most acclaimed directors, please do your research.

Don't get wrong, I respect you opinion on the films alleged predictability. However, now that you realize a "big name director" is not attempting to enter the chiller realm, your anticipation should rise, as you cited no other problems with the film other than the aforementioned.

I'm glad we sorted that out, bub. Enjoy the movie come February; I'll save you a seat.

So predictable. I bet the ending of the movie has Leonardo being like one of the crazy patients and he doesn't even realize it. Plus, I have no interest in this simply because big name directors never succeed in making good horror flicks. None, unless your considered one of the masters of horror, like Carpenter, Craven, or Barker.

This looks great and it f*cking sucks that its pushed back so it won't have a chance at its probably several nominated oscars that it will be capable of. Also, the cast seems to be doing a great job carrying their weight as well. Liking the JEH role. :)

i'm also disappointed that they're making us wait until february (!!!!) for this movie to come out. i was under the impression that it was out THIS year. i just finished reading the book about 2 days ago and am eager to see the movie. if you all cant wait till FEB, then read the book. it's a great read. BUT! i warn you now, if you read the book, you'll know how the movie ends and that may ruin it for some of you.

    COME ON FEBRUARY 19!!!!

It bothers me that a film of such high-caliber, which I might add, looks f*cking amazing, is coming out in February. Earlier this year, I foresaw Oscar gold; the material is worthy...

Oh well, at least I'll have something to look forward to during the slow-movie-months.

And by the way, I recommend the novel by Dennis Lehane; it is a thrilling page-turner. I read it in one sitting (granted, it was a very long plane ride ;P)
