Sherlock Holmes was released December 25th, 2009 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Rachel McAdams, Mark Strong, Eddie Marsan, Robert Maillet, Geraldine James, Kelly Reilly. The film is directed by Guy Ritchie.

Ummm where was Guy Ritchie!??! I Can't wait for this ...I;m a huge fan of Guy Ritchie ...his name alone will get me into the theater....not sure about Jude Law...but Robert Downey Jr. rocks everytime!!!!

God, he's so f*cking cool.
Hugh Laurie wouldn't have been good in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes. Downey's perfect for his style. Think about it.

I agree with you, I think Hugh Laurie would have been great as Sherlock. I am definitely excited to see Downey's take on the role though. I also think Downey may be better suited for Guy Ritchie's style in this case than Laurie. I think Laurie would be my choice for a straight up by-the-book rendition of Holmes.

Is it just me or does anyone else think Hugh Laurie would have made a better choice for Sherlock. Not saying that Downey's gonna be bad. I think he'll play a great holmes. But i just think that Hugh would have been their first choice for this. He just has that Holmes thing going on.
