Well the funny part is, the whole Jigsaw backstory should have been told in the 2nd film, but they didn't do it. I think they regret it. And in the 3rd they basically didn't even bother with it other than him dying, then after he's dead, they decide to finish his backstory, kinda stupid but now to me, they are more interesting to watch because I will find out something new. Maybe that was their intention who knows. I think they did it that way cause there would literally no point of doing any more sequels if Jigsaw was just done with. Tobin Bell is what makes the franchise what it is, not Detective Hoffman, no offense to that actor who plays him he does just fine, but he can't replace the real Jigsaw. You actually feel bad for him in the movies, which is kind of cool that they do that to you when you're watching the movies.

And your comparison I'm assuming is because Freddy had a lot of sequels, but they are all cheesy in my opinion. And they all end the same way, whereas Saw doesn't. Yeah there is a revelation at the end of each movie with a twist in some way, but nothing too predictable, which I love. I don't like knowing the endings of movies before I get there.

9 movies of this? Are you kidding me Chad? I guess this is the new version of Friday the 13th movie sequels as well as Nightmare on Elm Street. Your right, money is a factor though the storyline is way out of proportion...

Space, because they make money every year, a lot of money actually. And the fact that the story isn't finished also has a lot to do with it lol. Maybe they thought 7 wasn't enough room to put everything they wanted in, so they are aiming at 9 (right?).

ahhh f*ck soz i meant that it was released on a series of horror shorts, A dvd sold at Horror and Fright fest film festival.

It was place on the Horror Frightfest Shorts DVD complilation in 2003 and then further was released on Saw special dvd edition released in Feb 2005, the original creator of the Saw idea, actually had to disclose a lawsuit, to actually get the film place upon the special dvd edition of the film and he also gained a gross in the profits.

Soz about the mistake in the earlier comments, loool.

LOOOl, i wrote that comment like 5am in the morning.

Vanboy, I've seen you have a series of grammar issues after you called some one out on it, and I held my tongue cause I find it annoying. So next time you see me f*ck up keep it to your self cause i could give a f*ck.

Newkill, Thats were i got my facts as well as wikipedia, and two other sites, they all say 2003. So if there is a specific link to an article that you know about drop it, otherwise I'm sticking to my sources.

??? Ok that doesn't make any sense at all Ottley, how could the DVD be released in 2003 if the movie didn't come out until 2004? And the dvd release was in Feb 2005. I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just saying, where are you guys getting your facts from so I can catch up and stop myself from sounding like a further dumb ass if in fact my facts are wrong.

Leng T'che, It's "COULDN'T care less", not CAN. If you Couldn't care less, it means you have no more care in you. If you "can" care less, it means you still care about it somewhat. Sorry, but it's one of my biggest pet peeves.

  18. SCREENWRITER

This series has never let me down. SAW has been one of the best horror series of our time since the orignal movie-series for Freddy, Jason, and Michael ended [not counting the remakes]. I'm looking very forward to this one. Every since 2004, October has been has been the month to always look forward to the next chapter in the Saw series. Can't wait.

Leng, you say you liked Saw better when it was called The Cube. That's funny because The Cube stole Saw's idea, when it was just a short film, and Cube, rushed themselves, and came out in 97, while the short film, Saw, was still growing.

I like 3D, but I don't want to see Batman or Spiderman in 3D ya know?

  21. Leng T'che

I think 3D is fun if your on acid or shrooms or some drugs of some sort, otherwise its kind of ridiculous. But what can you do, to each his own. I agree with Ottley though, all this 3D craze makes it less attractive, even more to some one repelled by it. They should really pick and choose what it goes in to, cause eventually no one is going to give a sh*t if something is going to be in 3D. I can see where people would like it and if they want to watch something in 3D more power to them, as long as they don't force it down my throat as the end all be all of film experiences, and the future of cinema, then I can care less who watches what. Every one should enjoy film the way they like it.

As for Saw, what can i say, absolute garbage. I liked it a lot better when it was called "The Cube". But that aside what pisses me off even more is the fact they take the photo sound effect from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. That sound is creepy in that movie alone, every one else that uses it just makes it sound stupid and pointless.

And I don't think a specific "type" of movie has to be 3D. I think any movie can be. To me, 3D just enhances the experience, and creates depth, regardless, if things are flying in your face or not.

My family went to see "UP", and there wasn't any particular "thing" in you face. It was just a sense of "envelopment" that lent to the movie, as in a betterment of the images, to the effect that they were more lush and expansive, thus amping up texture, creating an added appreciation of clarity and color saturation, as well as the fast paced action that periodically took place throughout the movie.

The plot aside, if we had seen the 2D version, I honestly believe that we would have felt a bit less moved.

    Can't wait to see Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D.

I just wish that the original Star Trek cast movies were converted to 3D. The Blurays are phenomenal! Star Trek 3 was supposed to be in 3D. Can't remember why they didn't release it so.

Just for the record Ottley, I love 3D movies. I only made that comment, as an understanding of how "THOSE" people felt, and how it bothered me that "they" said 3D sucks, in relation to my "torture movies suck", which I believe spawned Chad's comment, four postings below.

Van, 3D isn't a bad thing, its a plus to the venture and experience of movie making to that both of a film making crew and that to an auidence.
But because 3D is Hollywood's big hype at the current moment, this doesn't mean it has to bunged on to every single movie, that nessceraily in the end of the day doesn't actually need the effect of 3D.
3D should only be placed onto a film if it is truly going to be an experience seeing it in that format.
I've walked out of many 3D films and wonder and pondered to myself as a film maker and writer and thought
"Now why the f*ck was that movie 3D?"

in terms i hope Avatar sets a bar, so far only Horror movies are good with the 3D experience, FD4, being the best i've seen by far with its 3d effects.
    Maybe Avatar may change that
