New Release Dates for 3D Films 'Contagion' and 'Journey to the Center of the Earth 2'

Warner Bros. also announces their planned schedule for 'New Year's Eve', 'Final Destination 5', and more.

Warner Bros. has announced some of their release plans for the upcoming future, taking us into 2011. The biggest news is that Steven Soderbergh's latest film Contagion will be release on October 21st, 2011. And that it will be shot in 3D. The film stars Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Gwyneth Paltrow and revolves around a deadly disease that threatens to end life on earth as we know it.

On September 23rd, 2011, Brendan Fraser and Josh Hutcherson will be back for an Untitled Journey to the Center of the Earth Sequel, which will also be shot in 3D, the same as its predecessor. This time out, Professor Anderson and his nephew will visit the mysterious island that served as inspiration for both Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island and Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels.

Warner Bros. also announced a release date for Final Destination 5, which will hit next summer on August 26th, 2011. There is no word on whether this series will continue to utilize 3D, and no cast or crew information has been released at this time. Gary Marshall's Valentine's Day follow-up New Year's Eve will arrive on December 9th, 2011 in order to take full advantage of the film's holiday theme.

Other films with just announced release dates include Catherine Hardwicke's Amanda Seyfried thriller The Girl with the Red Riding Hood, which opens on April 22nd, 2011. The horror film The Apparition, which comes to us September 9th of 2011. And the comedy Late Bloomer, about an adult man who must suffer through all the side effects of puberty in three weeks, which will hit theaters on August 12th, 2011.

Contagion was released September 9th, 2011 and stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Tien You Chui, Josie Ho, Daria Strokous, Matt Damon, Monique Gabriela Curnen, Griffin Kane, Yoshiaki Kobayashi. The film is directed by Steven Soderbergh.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island was released February 10th, 2012 and stars Dwayne Johnson, Michael Caine, Josh Hutcherson, Luis Guzmán, Vanessa Hudgens, Kristin Davis, Anna Colwell, Stephen Caudill. The film is directed by Brad Peyton.

Final Destination 5 was released August 12th, 2011 and stars Nicholas D'Agosto, Emma Bell, Miles Fisher, Ellen Wroe, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, P.J. Byrne, Arlen Escarpeta, David Koechner. The film is directed by Steven Quale.

New Year's Eve was released December 9th, 2011 and stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Zac Efron, Charlotte Marshall-Fricker, Fiona Choi, Mary Marguerite Keane, Michael Mandell, Patrick Reale, Robert De Niro. The film is directed by Garry Marshall.

Red Riding Hood was released March 11th, 2011 and stars Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman, Billy Burke, Shiloh Fernandez, Max Irons, Virginia Madsen, Lukas Haas, Julie Christie. The film is directed by Catherine Hardwicke.

The Apparition was released August 24th, 2012 and stars Ashley Greene, Sebastian Stan, Tom Felton, Julianna Guill, Luke Pasqualino, R.H. Gomez, Anna Clark, Tim Williams. The film is directed by Todd Lincoln.

The Late Bloomer is in development and stars Elijah Wood. The film is directed by Randall Einhorn.

    Final Destination 5, what a joke the first film was laughable good
    Some of the other films look questionable, though I do like Matt Damon in certain films
