Our report from March didn't reveal what sort of condition Merle would be in. We didn't know if he would be alive, a "walker," or another hallucinogenic vision only seen by Norman Reedus's Daryl Dixon. As you can see in the above photo, Merle is still alive and kicking, most likely in the Woodbury survival camp lead by David Morrissey's The Governor.
The Walking Dead returns with Season 3 on AMC sometime in October.

@bane5000 I don't think they'll do that to Rick in the show. Their's already one character missing a hand so why have two? It will make the show even more different from the comics if you ask me, which is good.
