New Photos of Jason Momoa's Conan in Action!
It's been twenty-six long years since Arnold Schwarzenegger first brought Robert E. Howard's iconic barbarian to the big screen. In 2011, director Marcus Nispel is set to unleash the popular Cimmerian once again in Conan, starring Jason Momoa. As shooting on the film continues in Europe, more and more images from the set are being released every other week. Conan blog site The Cimmerian has gotten their hands on a couple of new, never before seen pics of Momoa in action. These images have come from Cannes and give us a good idea about Jason Momoa's physical appearance in the finished film. You can check them out below:

Conan the Barbarian was released August 19th, 2011 and stars Jason Momoa, Stephen Lang, Rachel Nichols, Ron Perlman, Rose McGowan, Bob Sapp, Leo Howard, Steven O'Donnell. The film is directed by Marcus Nispel.

@Bloodlessdj They took the name of Conan and trampled it with the original films, they changed his apperance, origins(he left his people of his own free will and they were never attacked) and personality(He was fairly intelligent who had brutal tactics), the only thing that was Conan was the name.
It's like me taking away Batman's uniform, having his parents not killed, and Making him a Mafia enforcer

@(Insert Username Here): i understand that, but the movies were already great, no need to reboot or remake. And Burton's Batmans weren't that bad, but the 3rd and 4th messed it all up, Nolan NEEDED to reboot batman, and im glad he did because they are great. They simply could not make sequals for a Batman with nipples on the suit and butt-zippers, and lets not get started on robin. So u see, they had to reboot Batman, but they do not need to try and fix Conan.

@bloodlessdj: They are leaving it alone, in the same way that Chris Nolan left Tim Burton's Batman films alone when he made his own. Conan was a pre-existing character before the films...his character isn't confined to just those movies and just to Arnold.

Unfortantly, i never had the chance to read the origial Conan novels. But, they comics I have. All the comic that was made all had Conan looking thick and muscular, but more short and stocky. I loved both Arnold's takes on Conan. And I was worried on how this would look. But for all the pics shown to date, I have high hopes for Jason's Conan take. Jason was a kool kick ass guy on Star Gate Atlantis, and hard to picture him with out his dreads and beard from that show, but looks great. I only wish they did what Oliver Stone wanted to do when he wrote the first movie, and that was do it like Bond was.

Everyone needs to remember this is Conan the Barbarian not Conan the Barbarian as played by Arnold Schwartzenegger. Robert E. Howard's Conan the Barbarian was not a 6'2" 270lb mucscle man. He was large, to be sure, but he was not a former World Champion Bodybuilder. This Conan is much closer in look to the authentic REH version and as an avowed fan of all things Conan I am looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

Looks like Conan to me. The pics aren't the best quality but these definitely look better than the first pics to surface

dreadlocks suck ass on white people. Jamaicans fine. White people, no! Besides, I wouldn't exactly call that hair "straight".

Well, he looks more barbaric than I thought he would. He might pull it off. Like Insert says...will he act the part? I mean to play Conan, the dude has to be a bit ugly and scary and mean. I hope that they don't try to play up to the female audience and get all romantic and crap. Arnold did with Valaria, but he kept it manly, and didn't play all Romeo, "or some dumbsh*t like that". We'll see.

He "looks" as good as anyone could get for this project. The only question is whether he acts the part well.
