New Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Empire Set Photo

Rob Cohen has posted the very first picture from the set of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor on his personal blog. It is a recreation of the Tomb of Xi'an where the Terracotta Warriors were discovered by a Chinese farmer digging a new well in 1974.

Jet Li plays a despotic Emperor in 50 B.C. whose evil is punished by a terrible curse laid on him by wizardress Michelle Yeoh: he and his army are turned into to terra cotta for all time; that is, unless he is re-awakened which, of course, is where the O'Connells come back into it.

The story moves to the year 1946. When we find them, Rick (Brendan Fraser) and Evelyn (Maria Bello) are retired to Oxfordshire, England, having been spies for the British during World War II. They are bored silly and welcome the offer of "one last mission" from the Foreign Office. Their assignment: courier a precious artifact back to the museum in Shanghai, China from which it was stolen.

Back to Asia: China is in turmoil but Jonathan (John Hannah) owns an Egyptian-themed bar in Shanghai. Unbeknownst to his parents, now grown-up Alex O'Connell (Luke Ford) is following in the family business as a young archaeologist on a dig in north-central China. He makes the discovery of a lifetime: the tomb of the Dragon Emperor, which has been buried for millennia. A beautiful assassin (Isabella Leong) tries to kill him to keep the location secret but Alex prevails. The Emperor's monument is transported back to Shanghai where another plot is in motion: military zealot Anthony Wong intends to awaken the Emperor and aid him in the re-conquest of China and the raising of his terra cotta army of ten thousand clay warriors.

The family is reunited and high adventure ensues: crash landings, treks thru the Himalayas, Yeti, avalanches, Shangri-la, three-headed dragons, pools of eternal life, epic battles, a shape-shifting Jet Li...

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor opens August 1st, 2008.

    I'm worried too.
I wrote a script based on "The Mummy" and "The Return of the Mummy", from Stephen Sommers, called "The Mummy: The Queen of Egypt".
I guess that the Stephen Sommers would like the history.
Passes in Egypt, speaks about a new Mummy, that is a woman, who is the symbol of the eternity beauty that was written having in mind Angelina Jolie, she is the enemy of Evy, the history happens during Second War and Hitler, , search a powerful object. It follows the other films, starting when Nefertiti was queen and governed Egypt together Aken&#225ton, the pharao. The climax of the film happens in NY.
I guess that Stephen Sommers would interest for the project and Rachel Weisz would interest in coming back to be Evelyn O'Connel, because speaks serious, Maria Bello in the place of Rachel, in the paper of Evy, isn't good.
It was good, who read, liked.

Umm yeah, it's Rob Cohen. The master director behind Fast & The Furious, Stealth and XXX. Oh yeah and he did Dragonheart, a movie with Sean Connery as a dragon.

So yeah, I have no hope for this. Rob Cohen badness aside, no Rachel Wiesz means I don't really care for it.

Hope he keeps in mind that a lot of people are expecting nothing less than what we got from the first two. Of course we want it to be new and different but we dont need another Stealth movie.(Awesome special effects, lousy story) He needs to make ths film for the fans not himself, hopefully he will do that just that and so much more. I loved the first two so this guy has a lot of pressure on him right now, lets hope he doesnt buckle.
