The Griswold's are coming back to the big screen
The original Vacation was released in 1983. The series starred Chevy Chase and spawned three sequels that followed Clark Griswold and his family on holiday.
This new incarnation will not be under the National Lampoon credit. There is talk that it will be "more of an update than a sequel."
In this new version, Rusty Griswold, now grown-up, decides to take his wife and kids on a road trip to Wally World before it is closed forever. Chase will most likely be coming back as Clark Griswold, now a grandfather.
David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers) is producing.
Vacation comes to theaters in 2013 and stars Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo. The film is directed by John Francis Daley, Jonathan M. Goldstein.

I guess this being rebooted was inevitable too...with Chase coming back & Rusty going to Wally World one last time, it could be good. I just wonder who'll play Rusty? Will Hall or a newb?

Christmas Vacation was the best. Anthony Michael Hall should play Rusty again but it's very unlikely. With Dobkin involved, there's a chance we might get Vince Vaughn or something...

my first reaction was disgust, but this idea could work. which "rusty" will it be, though?!?! Jonathan Galicki ("Christmas Vacation" rusty, now in Big Bang Theory) might be an option, but i don't know if he can pull off a title character.
either way, i'm curious about this and look forward to hearing more.
