New Line Moves the Release Date of Inkheart to 2009

New Line has pushed the release date of their fantasy film Inkheart from March of this year to January of 2009. According to Variety, the move came because the studio doesn't believe the film will get the marketing push it needs while the writers' strike is still going on.

In other scheduling news, Universal has moved the release date of its Judd Apatow produced comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall from the very crowded May 30th weekend to the less crowded April 18th weekend.

New Line is also holding the release date of the Edward Norton-Colin Farrell cop drama Pride & Glory. It will also open in 2009 instead of later this year.

Inkheart was released January 23rd, 2009 and stars Brendan Fraser, Sienna Guillory, Eliza Bennett, Richard Strange, Paul Bettany, Helen Mirren, Matt King, Steve Speirs. The film is directed by Iain Softley.

This is so disappointing! My children and I were on the edge of our seats reading this book and couldn't wait to see Inkheart come to life on screen.
We do not not watch any television whatsoever and are very selective about what we let our children see on film and dvd. This is one movie we thought would be worth seeing. Why push it back so far? Everyone will have forgotten about it by next year. Very sad news! My husband & I are just as diappointed as the children.
I wish they would move it back up, at least to sometime this year!!!

They could have bought some time during the Super Bowl or the Oscars or, since its a family fantasy, any children's program. This is an excuse!

I read also that New Line has also pushed back "Pride and Glory", which stars Edward Norton and Colin Farrell, from March 14 to sometime in 2009!

Well that really sucks!! January of 2009!! What the hell, damn strike!!
This was 1 film I was really looking forward to seeing! By time next year, all the stars invloved with the film will lose interest & it will bomb!

Why can't they push the "CRAPPY" Re-Make of Prom Night to DVD or untill next year!!??!?!?!

I wonder how Brendan Fraser feels about this!?
