New Line Developing Speedy Gonzales Live Action/CG Hybrid Feature

The fastest mouse in all of Mexico
The fastest mouse in all of Mexico
New Line is bringing Speedy Gonzales, the "fastest mouse in all of Mexico", to the bigscreen, and has set Garfield scribes Alec Sokolow and Joel Cohen to adapt the classic animated Looney Tunes character into a live-action/CG hybrid feature.

George Lopez is attached to voice Speedy, according to Heat Vision.

We wanted to make sure that it was not the Speedy of the 1950s -- the racist Speedy," Anne Lopez said with a chuckle. "Speedy's going to be a misunderstood boy who comes from a family that works in a very meticulous setting, and he's a little too fast for what they do. He makes a mess of that. So he has to go out in the world to find what he's good at.

That path becomes clearer once Speedy befriends a gun-shy race-car driver.

No production date has been set.

I'd rather see this than The Flash movie. I thought Looney Toons Back in Action was pretty good.

Of course.. we can't have the "racist" Speedy from the 50's... I dont like George Lopez being attached to this because I don't find him to be particularly funny...plus, if this is going to be an entirely new voice, it's going to ruin it for me. All of the Looney characters are recognized with a specific voice, and if one of them resurfaces sounding different...well, that'll just be plain weird.

Please just shoot me now! Is nothing sacred!? Why must they screw with Looney Tunes!? Leave them alone they were great and awesome when I was younger...please don't screw them up. Also i really hate how ppl keep complaining on how racist they were...first yes they were...and i'm not going to argue with that but, that's a part of what they were. But guess what they are old cartoons don't hate on them for being the way they were. You have shows like the simpsons, family guy, american dad, king of the hill, and south park and nobody says sh*t about those! So the ppl complaining about CARTOONS being racist get the f*ck over it!
