New G-Force Trailer Hits!
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer brings his first 3-D film to the big screen with G-Force, a comedy adventure about the latest evolution of a covert government program to train animals to work in espionage. G-Force comes to theaters July 24 from Buena Vista.

I agree. I love "deviantart.com". Kinda addicted to that, almost as much as this place.

Pixar is the one saving Disney's ass big time, after what I've seen here. It's sad.

Well, I suppose you're right, Kwisatz. I hadn't thought of it that way before, so I agree, 3d is pretty hard. But as far as personal style goes, I still prefer hand-drawn animation. I guess it just has more of an appeal to me.
But I think what my main concern is, where has hand drawn animation disappeared to? It seems that it only appears in straight-to-dvd disney movies anymore. And for me, that's really sad. Hand drawn deserves so much better than that.

I disagree LEO, I studied 2D and 3D animation in college and both are hard and required a lot of attention to detail and a natural talent for art. 3D is even harder with the amount of attention you have the give to the backgrounds and environment, not to mention the characters. Modeling takes a long time in 3D as does texturing then you have to rig and animate, add the textured background, render in passes and put it all together, not to even mention effects. Trust me 3D takes a hell of long time to put together and requires a good amount of natural art and to get the job done.
But hey so does 2D, 24-30 drawings for one second of animation is a bitch to produce an hour long feature film. It also takes an army of skill traditional artist to create.
both have their ups and downs, but both require a good amount of artistic talent.
And as for limits man art is limited only by the imagination, 2D and 3D are limited only by the artist doing the job nothing more. Check out deviant art or 3d world, digital arts mags, so much crazy stuff out there that isn't main stream, but nonetheless the ideas in any art form are limitless.

Yeeeeah. Looks alright...
But yes, I agree with you entirely, clockworkcookie. Not only for the reason you said, but also for my own. Personally, I miss hand-drawn animation. Simply saying, it's because CG is WAY easier. And this is proven by thousands of college students around the world mastering it every semester. I even know how to make it a little bit!
But hand-drawn animation is so much more artistic and has so much more skill and pain put into it. I like CG, but it will never be able to compare to hand-drawn on a level of art, skill and wonder. Because even CG has limits... hand-drawn is literally limitless.

Err
you know, if you're going to mix cgi and real life then you should at least TRY to make the cgi look at least SOMEWHAT REALISTIC.
seriously.
i'll probably wind up watching this one day because will arnett is in it, but i would have appreciated if the producers had at least made some noticeable effort to make the animals look real, which they did not.

Frankly, I'm getting completely fed up with CG movies. People make fun of Pixar because every time they release a movie everyone goes automatically insane about it, but there's a reason for it, it seems they're the only ones looking to inovate artistically in this saturated genre..
