We are in the midst of the holiday season and, with Christmas just nine short days away, many of you have already made your holiday lists and are probably checking them twice. We thought this was the perfect time to launch a brand new feature on the site:
User Lists!
There are a lot of things to keep track of, if you're a hardcore fan of Movies, DVDs and TV, and this new feature will help you orgainze them all.
So, what can you create a list for? Anything!
Get started right away by cataloging your DVD Collection! You can even import your DVD collection from a text file or other websites. You can also create lists of:
DVD / Blu-ray / UMD Collections
DVD/Blu-ray Wish Lists
Things You Just Watched
Things You're Currently Watching
Things You Want To See
Favorite TV Shows
Favorite TV Episodes
Favorite DVDs
Favorite News Articles
Favorite Photo Galleries
Favorite Photos
Favorite Reviews
Favorite User Lists
...OR just create a list of whatever you want, and call it anything!
It's that easy!
START CREATING LISTS NOW!
How do you create a list? Simple.
All you have to do is log in into your MovieWeb profile (sign-up here if you don't have a MovieWeb account) and click on the Your Lists navigation button and start creating whatever list you want by doing searches or finding "Add To List" buttons on practically every page here at the site.
Every entry in our expansive database - Movies, DVDs, TV Shows, TV Episodes, Photos, News, etc., now feature an "Add to List" button, so all you have to do is perform a search for an item, and click "Add to List." Easy as pie!
When your list is created, you can also see which other MovieWeb users have that item in their list, and you can comment on other lists as well! You can also leave a brief comment about each list, or leave a comment about each individual item in your list as well.
What else can you do with the lists? A lot!
Once you've created a list, it will be displayed on your profile for the MovieWeb community to see, but there are many other options for you to share your list with others. Each list will be enabled with an RSS Feed that others can subscribe to and get updates on. As well, each list is fitted with an embed code, so you can create a link to your collection on other profiles of yours such as MySpace, Facebook and others.
As we add more features into the user lists functions, you'll start to see your lists compared with other user lists in the MovieWeb realm which will link you up with users who have the same tastes as you do.
So what are you waiting for?

StarWarsGuy....this is all coming, but won't require any info from the user (you) other than building your collection. Stay tuned for enhancements a plenty from this feature.

I was hoping we finally found a reliable replacement for DVD Spot. Alas no entry of other info like purchased from, price, dates, etc.

Excel is a spreadsheet program. Without that, you could open any "text editor" program (notepad, textpad, etc.) and just type all the UPCs in. Once you have them all in (be sure to put a after each UPC to move to the next line, you can save it and upload that file using the uploader... In Excel (if you have it on your PC, you put one UPC per "cell" (all in the "A" column, I would suggest) and then save the file as either a ".csv". That can, then, be uploaded.
Hope that helps.

here's what I did...
put them all in a csv file.
open Excel and in one column, list all the UPCs
then use the DVD Importer.
I had nearly 1500 in the system within about 10 minutes
Easy.
There are a few that aren't found. Some are just strange stuff that I couldn't find on Amazon or Google, either. A few are Checkpoint (security tag) vs. the sensormatic. Retailers use different tags and so a title might be packaged for retailers using one type security tag or another... I noticed that a lot of Checkpoint tagged versions are on MovieWeb. Most Sensormatics are, too, but a (very) few are not.

couple of questions and remarks :
-is there a faster way to write your list then 1 title at a time , only 5 titles was almost 35 min.( one of them ad only season 1 , coulndt find the enire box set in your library) .
-
-I have Dvd profiler but only the free version that is not online , it's just in my computer is there a way i can upload it here .
-also you dont seem to have every region 1 dvd in your library , ive already encountered some titles that i cant find anywere.
take a look at how Switchplanet ( it's a trading site nothing really in common with this site so it not competition ) dvd listing works when you click on the link Ad items to your have list.
also their library is in sink with the one on amazon , so theres almost every region dvds available with pics . one of your writers knows this site pretty well just ask him how it's easy
