hey newboy. thanks for the actual thoughtful response and respect of my opinion as opposed to the usual bashing and name calling. I can understand why one might not like some of his newer stuff, just wanted to throw my hat into the mix and argue the positive side of things. Can't help but be a loyal burton fan.

Err
hey man you should give the bbc version of sweeney todd a try, with ray winstone. i am pretty stubbornly biased against musicals in general so i didn't really give the burton version a fair chance but the bbc version was excellent in my opinion.

hi Cap25,
maybe i overlooked Ed Wood, but i find most of his new films leave me cold. I sat down with my wife and watched Sweeney Todd, we were both looking forward to it but after it finished we felt the same.....Nothing! didnt hate it, didnt like it, just nothing.
I agree with you about his films being 'visually appealing' but i feel there has to be something to go with it. and lately that something has been missing.
cheers

I would have to argue on the fact that Tim Burton's movies are generally crap. I think you can almost always rely on Burton to create a wonderfully entertaining and interesting world that draws you deep into his world. I know lots of people hated Charlie and the Chocolate Facotry but for those who loved the book as a kid it was much more faithful and therefore an interesting portrayal (in no way can it compare to the original 70's version of course). Planet of the Apes was campy...i cant really aruge that one. And sweeny todd? apart from altering the orignal score to accomadate depp's voice it was a beautifully done movie. Also you all seem to be forgetting about Burton's triumph Big Fish. That movie was a beautiful movie every which way you look at it. Then throw his work in from batman, nightmare, beetlejuice, edward scissorhands, and ed wood. And you have one director who you can count on to always create a wonderully charming visually appealing, and one hell of a story.

i have to side with newboy here i havent been a burton fan in a long time. i did like planet of the apes though but thats not to say i thought it was "good" exactly, just entertaining for its camp value. i have my hopes up for this one but we'll see.

Every time he brings out a new film i keep hoping that it will be good, but they just get worse. choc factory, Sweeney, apes. all really bad films!
I bet Alice will look great (with the sound off) but that will be it!

typical burton... only he could jack up someone as classy as hathaway. what's up with her matching eyebrows, lips and fingernails? the nails and lips i get, but the eyebrows?!?! this movie (as expected) is getting weirder and weirder as more is revealed.

lol I like Anne Hathaway. Burton isn't known for making actresses beautiful in his films, so this is a good portrayal...I'm just saying she doesn't look that great in this pic. I think it's the blond hair haha
But I do think Carter looks like hell the majority of the time.

Burton really went out of his way to make sure Hathaway looked like hell, didn't he? lol
But, it's still nothing compared to Carter...who looks like hell all the time
