Need For Speed adaptation lands director Scott Waugh
John Gatins (Real Steel) and his brother George Gatins (She's Out of My League) developed the project together, with George Gatins set to write the script. No story details were given, but the studio is aiming to start a franchise in the same vein as The Fast and the Furious.
Electronic Arts released the 18th installment in their Need for Speed video game franchise in November, with the plot-driven title Need for Speed: The Run. The series has generated more than $100 million in revenue for the company since the first version was launched in 1994.
No production schedule was given for this high-octane project.
Need for Speed comes to theaters February 7th, 2014 and stars Aaron Paul, Imogen Poots, Dominic Cooper, Michael Keaton, Kid Cudi, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek, Harrison Gilbertson. The film is directed by Scott Waugh.

@bawnian-dexeus Exactly! Unless they do a NFS movie with a different visionary so it wouldn't compare.

I love the NFS games and since its being handled by Dreamworks i have high hopes.
@bawnian-dexeus i may be one of the few but of the Fast and Furious movies, Tokyo Drift was my favorite.

You know, back when Tokyo Drift cane out, I randomly made the comment of Need for Speed getting it's own movie. The usher response: "Why? We already have fast and furious. That's a franchise we'll be seeing for another decade."
