NBC Finds Its Prime Suspect

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it looks like ITV's Prime Suspect is going to be revamped at NBC.

The pilot is being written by Without a Trace creator Hank Steinberg. This new show is part of a two-year three-project deal with NBC and ITV Studios.

"We want to carefully choose a couple of iconic titles this year to reinvent, and our intention is to create another classic television show from this brilliant original format," stated NBC and Universal Media Studios president of primetime entertainment, Angela Bromstad.

The original version was created by Lynda La Plante. Prime Suspect featured Helen Mirren as tough Detective Chief Inspector Jane Tennison. The series ended its five-year run in 2006. It won Emmys for best miniseries and best lead actress in a movie or miniseries.

WHY? WHY? WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If Helen isn't attached, then you better get Meryl Streep to play the role or Sigourney Weaver or Jessica Lange because this will be off by the second episode...why? Because it's NBC! They never let anything marinated to be good...case in point "Life"...It was a great show and they pulled it! This will go the same way! UGH!
