NBC Cancels Southland
Production was shut down on the John Wells drama after six episodes. The series' second season was set to debut during the network's premiere week, but the premiere was pushed to October 23 and now it isn't clear when those six produced episodes will air.
Dateline NBC, which was filling in for Southland until its premiere, will now continue airing in the Friday 9 PM ET timeslot.
It was said that the network's decision to air The Jay Leno Show in the 10 PM slot could have had an effect on the cancelation. Southland premiered this past spring, in the Thursday 10 PM slot, and it was said that networks deemed the L.A.-based cop drama to be too dark and violent for the 9 PM hour.
It was also said there was a possibility of the show being shopped around to cable networks.

And don't forget the Mentalist, Brady. Another high rank show on CBS. When I'm watching one show on CBs, I feel like I'm watching every other show that is on that network. When I'm watching Criminal Minds, I'm not sure if it's a CSI episode unless I press info on my remote control. They all seem the same.

CBS can afford to keep sh*t open like Gary Unmarried, they have Criminal Minds, all three CSIs, those are the top shows in their time slots for every year pretty much....

Jay leno, is a f*cking dumbass. I hate his show now and he sucked on the Tonight Show. Well, now no one can continue to only blame Fox for canceling a lot of their shows, but at least Fox cancels shows that aren't getting enough ratings and suck all around; NBC just cancels sh*t just to open up the door for something new and not sure about. They better not cancel the f*cking Office. As of now, that's the only good show they have, since Medium is gone. And CBS has a problem of holding on to too many failing shows like Gary Unmarried and other dumb ass sh*t.

Damn that blows. McKenzie is a good actor, too. I was hoping his new show would do well. I actually watched the Pilot and succeeding episodes back in spring, and it was fairly good, and an interesting type of show. That last sentence seems out of place. Will they really shop this around? How many shows were canceled and then shopped around and picked back up? I know of a few, but not many. This is bad news. This is the second show Ben McKenzie has been on that was canceled. And the first instance was due to Paris Hilton-wannabe, Mischa Barton. Chances are they'll release this on DVD, though, with the six unaired S2 eps.
