National Treasure stays at the top of the box office yet again
Buena Vista's National Treasure held the top spot for the third consecutive weekend, only the third film to do so this year, taking in an estimated $17.1 million. The Nicolas Cage starrer slipped 47% in its third frame, taking its cume to date for the Jon Turteltaub-helmed "Treasure" to $110.2 million in 17 days. The PG-rated film is the 18th release in 2004 to top the $100 million mark and the 46th picture to do so for the distributor.
Sony's Christmas With the Kranks leapt from the third spot a week ago into the second spot this weekend, unwrapping a merry estimate of $11.7 million. The PG-rated comedy from Revolution Studios, starring Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis, dipped 46% in its sophomore frame. The total to date for the Joe Roth-directed picture reached $45.5 million after 12 days.
National Treasure was released November 19th, 2004 and stars Nicolas Cage, Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha, Sean Bean, Jon Voight, Harvey Keitel, Christopher Plummer, David Dayan Fisher. The film is directed by Jon Turteltaub.
