Uncharted: Drake's Fortune loses Neil Burger, gains writers Marianne and Cormac Wibberley
Now, replacement helmer Neil Burger (Limitless), has bailed as well, leaving the director's seat empty. Keeping the dream alive, Sony Pictures, Atlas entertainment, and Arad Production have hired a new set of writers in duo Cormac Wibberley and Marianne Wibberley, best know for their work on the National Treasure franchise and the Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle sequel.
The Studio is waiting for the pair to finish their script before seeking out a new director. The film will follow Nathan Drake and his search for the lost treasure of El Dorado.
Cross your fingers, there is still hope that Joss Whedon could direct Nathan Fillion in this action adventure. The character was, after all, inspired by the former Firefly lead.
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was released in 2012.

@SherlockHolmes2009 as do I! It would be awful... there is just way too much epic in the game to fit into a film...

@felipe-11 That movie was weird for me. Granted, I never ventured the games

@felipe-11 I actually didn't see Max Payne, so I can't comment on that. The Assassin's Creed movie definitely interests me. Especially since Fassbender's name has been kicked around.

@dan1 Yep, you're totally right.
But now more than ever game developers are interested in producing the movies themselves (ala Marvel) which could be a major game changer for these adaptations. We've got an upcoming Assassins Creed movie being developed directly with Ubisoft, and Deus Ex by Eidos Montreal. Not to mention the Halo web-series by Microsoft debuting with Halo 4.
Also, what did you think of Max Payne? It was one of the most decent adaptations, loyal to the game's story and visuals, but the script was still a bit too weak IMO.

The games are good enough for me. If I want more Drake action I will just fire up my PS3.
I dont want to see one of my all time favorite franchises ruined.

Although @XxNickTheFilmCriticXx is 99% correct (Mortal Kombat 1 was okay, for its time), I'm with @felipe-11. Studios typically hire the wrong people for games. The directors or writers will be completely unfamiliar with the source or all wrong in terms of tone, or simply talentless hacks (Uwe Boll, Paul WS Anderson).
Uncharted is simply pointless to do, anyways. It's already cinematic as all get out when you're playing it, that should be good enough. I don't want to see it ruined by someone's inaccurate interpretation (and it WILL be inaccurate, because Hollywood is obsessed with changing things).

I love Nathan Fillion, but he is way too old for the role at this point.

Anyone like to see Diablo as a film? @vampire2000 and I had a discussion about it

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXxFlag They never work because they never get the right people to write/direct/act, not because it isn't possible to do a proper video game movie.

@dan1 No way. The more time this takes, the better. I don't want this rushing into production. From the sounds of the last couple attempts, the writers/directors were going to change the game's storyline. F*ck that.

Whedon will be too busy supervising Phase 2 and writing season 9 of Buffy.
