Natalie Portman to Lead Black Swan
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mark Heyman has done a rewrite of John McLaughlin's original script for the pic, which Mike Medavoy's Phoenix Pictures and Protozoa are producing.
Black Swan centers on a veteran ballerina (Portman) who finds herself locked in a competitive situation with a rival dancer, with the stakes and twists increasing as the dancers approach a big performance. But it's unclear whether the rival is a supernatural apparition or if the protagonist is simply having delusions.
Those who've read the script say it's a spine-tingler with elements of The Others, the Nicole Kidman breakout in which viewers are left to discern what's real and what's imagined.
If a sale happens imminently, Black Swan could begin shooting as early as this year.

WRESTLER was a smart choice by Arronofsky to show the studios he can take drama projects and do them well. That's why he did it.
I have to admit this synopsis doesn't interest me. But since the psycho-sci-fi director back, i'm in! the guy is a genius!

Sounds great, with Aronofsky directing I'm definately watching this one :]
It's true the Wrestler was very diferent from his usual stuff but it was brilliant as far as drama goes, showing he can do more than just surreal, bizarre movies (though Pi remains my favourite).

I never liked Aronofsky, but Natalie Portman will be the deciding factor.

i wonder if the other ballerina's supernatural powers is that she's a she-male. That would be pretty spine-tingling.
