Natalie Portman Departs from Wuthering Heights

Natalie Portman will no longer be a part of the latest adaptation of a Charlotte Bronte classic. According to Variety, Portman has exited the new film version of Wuthering Heights.

Portman cited a scheduling conflict with an un-announced project she had committed to, according to her publicist.

She also plans to make her directorial debut with a film adaptation of Amos Oz's memoir A Tale of Love and Darkness sometime in the near future.

Wuthering Heights is still moving forward with John Maybury directing from Olivia Hetreed's script. It isn't quite clear yet who will fill in for Portman for the role of Cathy.

Wuthering Heights was released November 11th, 2011 and stars Kaya Scodelario, James Howson, Oliver Milburn, Nichola Burley, Amy Wren, James Northcote, Steve Evets, Paul Hilton. The film is directed by Andrea Arnold.
