Natalie Portman Cast as Jane Foster in Thor
In the early Thor comics, Jane Foster was a nurse who became Thor's first love. The character will be updated for the feature adaptation.
Portman will star opposite Chris Hemsworth who will play Thor and Tom Hiddleston who will play the villain Loki. Kenneth Branagh will direct the film.
Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige will produce Thor. Principal photography for the film is set for early 2010. The film will be released in the US on May 20, 2011 and distributed by Paramount Pictures.
Marvel Studios expands its film universe with a new type of super hero: Thor. This epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
Portman will next be seen starring in Jim Sheridan's Brothers opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire. She recently wrapped production on Hesher, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and executive produced by her production company handsomecharlie films, and Don Roos' "Love and Other Impossible Pursuits," which she also executive produced. In 2004, she won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress as well as an Academy Award nomination in the same category for Closer. She also earned critical acclaim for her role in Garden State and is most well known for her role as Queen Padme Amidala in the Star Wars Trilogy. Other film credits include The Other Boleyn Girl, V For Vendetta, Cold Mountain, Anywhere But Here, Heat, Beautiful Girls and The Professional.
Thor is one of a continuing slate of films being produced by Marvel Studios based on the Marvel characters, including Iron Man 2 on May 7, 2010, The First Avenger: Captain America on July 22, 2011, and The Avengers on May 4, 2012.
Thor was released May 6th, 2011 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgård, Kat Dennings, Clark Gregg, Idris Elba. The film is directed by Kenneth Branagh.

Natalie Portman can be aggressive. She's a fine actress, one of the best out there right now. She can do it. She was great in V For Vendetta.

The character of j.foster in comics is more dynamic. I don't think Portman is the best choice. Even when she speaks, you think she will break. Have you seen her holding a (yes! it was plastic)gun in phantom menace? THEN imagine her with something medeviel. J.foster is a doctor....not a balarina.

Agreed that Pearl Harbor was crap. There was a bit of a problem with Punisher, the man is not mike myers or jason. He cannot punch through a mans head. They tried too hard to make him this badass, which he is, but just too much. Punisher is my all around favorite comic. He has ahad a hard movie go so far. But I think Thor might surprise alot of people. I think this may work out

I love Natalie. I love the Marvel universe. These two together and myself as a fan, is like my ideal threesome. Seriously though, I think she could really play this part well. It's not about the comic book nature, but the human aspect, and she can do that so well.

Well JuiceBox, Pearl Harbor was a piece of romantic wartime sh*t, where as Brothers actually looks crazy and f*cked up. I don't see the problem with the recent Punisher, I think they're finally heading in the right direction, Maybe they could have cut some of the cheese out but otherwise Warzone reminded me of the Comics the most, especially the stuff Garth Ennis wrote, and is why I think they should have Baracuda as the next Villian.

Starscream should kill Megatron. It's the only way for Michael Bay to redeem what he's done to the character.
But I like what you said about limited all robot fights to 4 or less (preferably less) combatants at a time.

Well, Enchantress seems more likely for Biel (if she's in the movie) at this point, just because it's easier to squeeze more villains than protagonists into a dramatic narrative. The little plot blurb about THor being banished to earth kind of lets you in on what will probably happen, He's forced to live among mortals, he does his haughty norwegian douchebag thing, Jane Foster tells him he's being a haughty norwegian douchebag, he's both angered and mysteriously infatuated by her impertinence, he tags along with her to figure out what Mortal life is all about, then Loki set's the Hulk loose on his ass, Jessica Biel eye candy scene, RDJ cameo, roll credits.

so ur just trying to get ppl to check out ur ideas for Transformers 3? cuz u state u don't really know Thor, then say she could play the picture character which has been pointed out at least three times already to not be the character that she is goin to play. that is pretty much spam just like nikkikiss below u.
and Fallen, like a week or two ago movieweb had another post bout Biel being rumored to be up for a part in Thor, but it said they didn't know which part, but it is assumed to be either Sif or Enchantress.

I can see her playing the character in the the drawing even though I pretty much don't anything about Thor. I've heard tons about it, but don't know that many plot details until now after reading this.

Delgren, I'm sure you've already seen Brothers. It was called Pearl Harbor. Same deal there. I wasn't excited for Thor. But since Marvel Studios is doing it, it should be good. If not better. I fear for Deadpool, simply because "Fox". They blow. Hard. Wolverine pissed me off so bad, im starting to worry for future comic movies done by them. Some really great characters are going to get ruined. Punisher is beyond rebooting. Ghost Rider hopefully is not getting a second. Has anyone heard on daredevil if they were going through with 2?

I don't see Biel playing Sif if they're going to put Portman as Jane Foster, too many love interest, unless thats what they're going for. Enchantress looks more likely to me since they begin as enemies and end up hooking up way later in the future. Who knows its all speculation.
