Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts are up for The Trade

Naomi Watts, Rachel Weisz, and Rebecca Hall are eyeing roles in The Trade, a film that would reunite Ben Affleck and Matt Damon on screen for the first time in over a decade. It is rumored that Matt Damon would also direct the film, based on the true story of former Yankee pitchers Mike Kekich and Fritz Peterson, who traded wives and families in 1972, reports New York Post.

Which characters the ladies would play has not been specified. Ben Affleck and his brother Casey Affleck are currently working on a new draft of the script.

Mike Kekich, who has been off the radar since the wife-swapping, is trying to prevent his life story making its way to the bigscreen.

"Mike Kekich is panic-stricken. He has moved away and has a new identity. He is freaked out that those working on the movie found out where he is. He isn't too keen on having the scandal dredged up again after all this time. Other Yankees from that time have also been really unhelpful with facts and details of what happened. They are stonewalling."

It all started in 1972 when friends and Yankee pitchers Mike Kekich and Fritz Peterson grew an affinity for each other's wife and joked about swapping the ladies and their kids and even family pets. Word didn't get out until the following year about the Yankee pitchers' scandalous situation, and were eventually traded themselves (out of the Yankees). Marilyn Peterson and Mike Kekich's relationship did not last, however Susanne Kekich and Fritz Peterson are still married and live in New Jersey and Colorado.

No production date has been set.

This is such a weird story, but could make for a riveting watch. However, accuracy looks to be bleak because the principal players, and others around the story, are not cooperating with the project. Unless that changes, the story will be filled with Hollywood embellishments.
