Mr. Untouchable Gets His Own Showtime Series

Forest Whitaker is gearing up to produce a series for Showtime based on the life and times of Harlem heroin dealer Leroy "Nicky" Barnes entitled Mr. Untouchable. According to Variety, the show is based on Marc Levin's just-released Magnolia documentary of the same name.

The storyline will follow Nicky Barnes' rise and fall as the head of a Harlem drug empire in the 1970s. It will show how he rose to great heights, but with his success coming at the expense of his Harlem community.

The show will premier sometime later next year.

Mr. Untouchable was released October 26th, 2007 and stars Leroy Barnes, Don Ferrarone, Thelma Grant, Carol Hawkins-Williams, Joseph Jazz Hayden, Leon Scrap Batts. The film is directed by Marc Levin.
