Mortal Kombat fights its way back to the big screen
Last June, the short film Mortal Kombat: Rebirth exploded across the web, which amassed more than 10 million hits. Kevin Tancharoen directed the short, from a script by Oren Uziel, which was designed as a proof-of-concept video to pitch Kevin Tancharoen's vision for a new Mortal Kombat movie. Instead, the short spawned Mortal Kombat: Legacy, a nine-episode web series which attracted more than 15 million viewers. Based on that success, Warner Bros. is now finally moving ahead with a big-screen version of Mortal Kombat.
Oren Uziel will write the screenplay, although no actors have officially signed on as of yet. The Mortal Kombat: Rebirth short and Mortal Kombat: Legacy featured actors such as Michael Jai White, Jeri Ryan, Ian Anthony Dale, and Darren Shahlavi. It is said that Mortal Kombat will not be an extension of the web series.
Mortal Kombat comes to theaters in 2013.

i just hope they dont go with tht whole realistic route like they did with tht rebirth trailer, the idea sounded cool but i wouldnt wanna see it in a movie, mabey like a hbo or showtime series.

Good for him. Legacy was good, but the low budget made it cheesy. When I first saw "Rebirth", I immediately thought, "Wow, this is like what Nolan did with Batman" and from that point on I wanted to see a full (budget backed) film.

Sweet! i hope He keeps Michael jai white and ian anthony dale! i also like who played raiden! the guy who played cage just didnt do it for me for some reason. and jeri ryan is way to old to play sonya! But im excited about the movie! i hope he makes a trilogy! but i want more of the grittier style like raidens story. and mortal kombat rebirth!

And the majority of you are aware that MK: Legacy was basically his pitch, so it will be that composed into 2hours.
Although i welcome a reboot,i don't see it being commercially successful, because MK is a hard R-rated franchise and well knowing Warner they will want to water it down,which will evidently piss off the fans.
Also let not fail to mention the massive expectation that will ride on the battle between Sub-Zero & Scorpion, then add on the factors of it being watered down, then possible a 3D final product and well, those millions and millions among people that watched the web-series didn't exactly pay for it... did they.
But that's my penny in the well

Legacy had its moments but it never really showed it's full potential. It was a bumpy ride. I need a second season before I can really judge whether this will be good or bad. And I will go against my better judgement of saying this, but yes, I want a hard-R. We're not softening this goldmine.
