Billy Crystal reveals Monsters University explores fraternity life
Next summer, Pixar will release Monsters University, a new animated comedy that shows us just how Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) and Sully (John Goodman) from Monsters Inc. became BFF's. Their road to friendship was a rocky one, though, since they couldn't stand each other when they first met. Star Billy Crystal recently spoke about the prequel, revealing that Mike and Sully belong to a fraternity that draws parallels to Revenge of the Nerds.

"[Mike and Sully] end up in the same fraternity where they have this scare competition - like Greek Games in college. They have to mobilize a group, sort of like Revenge of the Nerds-monsters, and get them ready to be scary."

The actor also added that these characters are still at an awkward stage in their lives when they enter the university.

"They're 17 and 18 years old in the script. My guy has a retainer, even."

Monsters University comes to theaters June 21st, 2013 and stars Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Helen Mirren, Peter Sohn, Joel Murray, Sean Hayes, Dave Foley. The film is directed by Dan Scanlon.

i have no idea how to feel about this sequel. i love the original characters, but even if it is good and successful i'll still feel slightly... disappointed? i don't know. i just feel like Pixar is above sequeling movies to death.
the flip side of that coin is i liked Toy Story's multiple sequels and have said on multiple occassions i want to see another Incredibles.
So, like a good cinematic hypocrite, i want only the movies i want and think are good to be made as sequels. and if Monsters does really good, despite my objections i'll sing its praises and pretend i never had any objections to begin with. :-)
