Monsters Inc. 2 in the Works?

It seems we might get a new glimpse at our favorite monsters Mike and Sully in the next few years. Blue Sky Disney is reporting that Monsters Inc. director Pete Docter is working on a sequel to his 2001 hit Pixar film.

It appears that Pete Docter has settled on his next directing gig and the film project is a familiar one. While he likely won't be talking about it until his press junkets are through for Up, the feature that he'll be working on(and has been for a while) is the sequel to Monsters Inc. with tentative plans for it being Pixar's 2013 release.

We'll certainly keep you posted on any developments surrounding this sequel. Docter's latest film, Up, hits theaters on May 29.

Monsters Inc. was released November 2nd, 2001 and stars John Goodman, Billy Crystal, Mary Gibbs, Steve Buscemi, James Coburn, Jennifer Tilly, Bob Peterson, John Ratzenberger. The film is directed by Pete Docter, David Silverman, Lee Unkrich.

What's the point of this? And I agree Chad, Pixar sequels suck. I loved Toy Story then Toy Story 2 came along and f*cked everything up.

lantimes needs to take a chill pill lol. I made a mistake about Ice Age, my bad. But my point still remains, Disney or Pixar related films have terrible sequels. And maybe that's why Ice Age 2 was good, because they weren't Pixar sequels lol

Is pixar REALLY strict with no sequels, lantimes? Disney owns the rights, yes, but Toy story 2 was still MADE by Pixar. Don't go around saying I don't know my facts, buddy. The article said it would be Pixar's 2013 release. How could that be unless it was made BY Pixar? My buds at Pixar told me more about it last night. Disney wants it made, and Pixar is agreeing to MAKE it. If Pixar is strict with no sequels, why are they acting like Disney's work horse? Don't go around knocking people like that, thinking you know something we don't. Kapeech?

hey dipsh*ts. get facts straight. Ice Age was created by Bluesky when they were signed with 2oth fox. Pixar are very strict with no sequels.
Disney owns the rights to all these pixar movies, and they are the ones doing the sequels. and most likely will f*ck it up and give pixar a bad rep.

I agree D. The next film slated by Pixar is John Carter of Mars; an adaption. And then all these sequels.....

Ah oh. Cars 2. Toy Story 3. Monsters 2. ???

First sign that Pixar might be running out of ideas, just maybe, and that makes me worried.
