Monster House Scares Up the No. 1 Spot in DVD Sales

It was a monstrous week on the DVD charts!

In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, Monster House easily took the No. 1 position on Nielsen VideoScan's First Alert Chart. Over the Hedge, which was last weeks winner, held strong at No. 2 in sales. Monster House placed fourth in rentals.

The Break-Up came in at the No. 1 spot in rentals for the second week in a row. Nacho Libre took the No. 3 spot in sales and placed No. 2 on Home Media Retailing's video rental chart. Click placed No. 3 in rentals.

Horror films fared quite well on the sales charts with An American Haunting coming in at No. 6 and the cultish Slither bowing at No. 8.

The original Saw reentered the sales charts taking the No. 13 position. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake also got a shot in the arm bowing at No. 14.

The sales charts were rounded out with The O.C.: The Complete Third Season bowing at No. 10 and The L Word: The Complete Third Season landing in the No. 18 spot.

Monster House was released July 21st, 2006 and stars Ryan Newman, Steve Buscemi, Mitchel Musso, Catherine O'Hara, Fred Willard, Sam Lerner, Woody Schultz, Ian McConnel. The film is directed by Gil Kenan.
