Mission: Impossible IV Is Officially Happening at Paramount

Variety reports that Mission: Impossible IV is officially happening at Paramount.

Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams will be co-producing this sequel, which is set for a 2011 release.

The only problem with the production of Mission: Impossible IV is negotiating the schedules of Cruise and Abrams.

Abrams is currently eyeing a Star Trek sequel. Cruise recently signed on to an untitled film (once known as Wichita) for 20th Century Fox. James Mangold is directing and Cameron Diaz is also starring.

Cruise is also waiting for a rewrite (along with Denzel Washington) of the The Matarese Circle, to be directed by David Cronenberg for MGM based on a Robert Ludlum novel.

Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol was released December 21st, 2011 and stars Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Paula Patton, Michael Nyqvist, Vladimir Mashkov, Samuli Edelmann, Ivan Shvedoff. The film is directed by Brad Bird.

J.J ABRAMS is good, but not for M:I. he made M:I 3 action rather than spy/adventure. The story was alright, just needed a bit tweaking.
    - Should have left out the wife, no chemistry what so ever.
    - Focused on revenge/rescue of keri russell.
    - Not REVEAL the 'secret' organization to the WIFE!
    - Underused the talent of HOFFMAN!

MATARESE CIRCLE; don't know anything about it, but Cronenberg(CRASH) + Ludlum novel = it can't be bad.

I liked Mission: Impossible, M:I:2 was a little boring, M:I:3 was pretty good. Phillip Seymour Hoffman was a pretty cool villain. So hopefully they can get a good story...

So Paramount fired Cruise from his contract since his poor media spotlight actions of 2005 were credited with low B.O.R. for "M:i:III" in 2006, yet they've picked him back up again? Or did Tom grovel outside Paramount's doghouse to get back in? haha.

The original "Mission: Impossible" TV series was about a team. In the movies the team kept being pushed farther and farther back. Now it should be called "Mission: Cruise".

Oh wait....do you hear that? I think a bomb is beginning to fall from the sky. OH MY GOD, IT'S "M:I 4"!!!! RRUUUUUNN!!!

I still believe the first is the best. When the masks weren't over used. Tension and suspense ruled over big flashy explosions.

I really liked MI3, I wish Abrams would direct this one but I prefer he focuses on Star Trek instead. And of course, Cruise has to be in it, it won't work any other way.

Same here Newkill, i read one time on here, that Cruise was replaced by Brad Pitt.
I'm not sure if any one remembers the article.

I dont care really lol, it not like the TV series, in fact the series was better, to me this is just another action film promoting its-self using a fan based and loced source material

I didn't care about the sequel when they made the third MI. I still don't care about the sequel but when it comes out I'll defenetlly check it out. About different actor...Tom Cruise is E. Hunt and, Hutn is the main charaster in MI franchise so you can't swicth Tom Cruise in this movie.

We have to wait for the . After all... with Cruise we can call it ''Acting Impossible''. Better with J.statham or any other guy

I agree with luca. Tom Cruise doesn't always have to lead. It's called mission Impossible not Tom Cruise.

btw, correct me if i'm wrong but i thought Paramount kicked Cruise to the curb for doing all that crazy talk.

I stilll wonder is M.I 4 still going to be set in Tokyo
