Misery: Collector's Edition Writes Its Way to DVD October 2
Misery loves company. MGM Home Entertainment presents the terrifying tale of one fan's extreme obsession when Misery: Collector's Edition hits the bestseller list on DVD October 2. Starring James Caan (The Godfather) and Kathy Bates (About Schmidt) in the role that won her the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1991, Misery follows Paul Sheldon (Caan), a novelist who has garnered fame and fortune through his literary heroine "Misery Chastaine." After a near fatal car crash, Sheldon is saved by his "number one fan" Annie Wilkes (Bates). While under Wilkes' care Sheldon quickly realizes that the character of "Misery Chastaine" means more to her then he will ever know, thrusting him into a harrowing fight for his life.
Directed by Rob Reiner (The Princess Bride) and written by two-time Oscar winner William Goldman (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) from the popular novel by Stephen King; Misery features outstanding supporting performances from Lauren Bacall (Birth), Richard Farnsworth (The Straight Story) and Frances Sternhagen (Stephen King's The Mist). The collector's edition DVD features commentary from Reiner and Goldman, interviews with Kathy Bates and nine behind-the-scenes featurettes. The Misery: Collector's Edition DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $19.98 US/$25.98 Canada. Prebook is September 5.
