Heat Vision is reporting that Mike Finch and Alex Litvak (the screenwriters who wrote Predators), are going to write Masters of the Universe for Columbia.

The studio grabbed the movie rights to the 1980s Mattel toy property this past fall, when Mattel and Warner Bros. split after the sides couldn't agree on a creative vision.

Adding the writers is "the first major move on the property and signals the project is being rebuilt from the ground up." When the project was at Warner Bros., Masters went through a bevy of writers and at one point had John Stevenson (Kung Fu Panda) attached to direct.

Mattel has story approval on this project.

Based on their pitch, Finch and Litvak wanted to convince the studio that Masters of the Universe was cinematic and also keep the toy company satisfied that the characters were being portrayed appropriately.

Masters of the Universe is in development .

tired of hearing about this and watching it fall to crap. get some solid writers, stay out of real life (keep it in eternia), cast it well and get this project started!

I'm for it. I want it dark, and serious like Lord of The Rings. That pic is a good start. Anyone know where that's from?
I also read reviews of the last script by Justin Marks and though StreetFighter sucked, his scripts for Voltron and Masters of the Universe were on point!

sounds good. the first film was horrible, but could have been so much more than it was, although i did like frank langela's performance. Hopefully they can make this epic, and build on a great story, and plot based on the property, but still keeping the characters (would not be too dissapointed if orko was left on the cutting room floor though... we do not need another JAR JAR BINKS, and for story purposes, would not help or hinder being in or out of the film) true to form. keeping my fingers crossed on this one, although it has been in development hell since the first film.
