Michelle Pfeiffer Joins Cheri

Michelle Pfeiffer will star in Cheri, a new project that will reunite director Stephen Frears with writer Christopher Hampton. According to Variety, Miramax and Pathe will partner on the Bill Kenwright and Thom Mount produced feature.

Cheri is an adaptation of the 1920s novel by French author Colette. Colette set her book in 1920s Paris, where the young son of a wealthy courtesan is educated in the ways of love by a middle-aged friend of the man's mother. When he is forced to give up the six-year relationship after marrying someone else, the young man can't forget her and retreats into a fantasy world.

A start date for production on Cheri has not yet been announced.

Cheri was released June 26th, 2009 and stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Frances Tomelty, Tom Burke, Rupert Friend, Hubert Tellegen, Joe Sheridan, Kathy Bates, Toby Kebbell. The film is directed by Stephen Frears.
