Michel Gondry in Talks to Direct The Green Hornet

It seems a new superhero film might be getting an arthouse director. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) is in negotiations to direct The Green Hornet.

Stephen Chow was set to direct and co-star as Kato in the film, but he dropped out of his directorial duties, citing creative differences, although he will still appear as Kato. Seth Rogen has been set to star as the title character and will write and executive produce the film alongside his writing/producing partner, Evan Goldberg.

The Green Hornet follows the exploits of Britt Reid, a wealthy heir to his father's newspaper franchise, The Daily Sentinel, who fights crime in the city at night, alongside his trusty martial-arts expert sidekick, Kato.

The Green Hornet was released January 14th, 2011 and stars Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Cameron Diaz, Tom Wilkinson, Christoph Waltz, David Harbour, Edward James Olmos, Jamie Harris. The film is directed by Michel Gondry.

I loved Gondry's Be Kind Rewind and so I think he may be the right choice for this.

Diagma, this isn't a DC adaptation. Due to the new MW policies and the fact that I like you, I'll refrain from my usually reaming.

While similar to the sixties Batman TV series in its serialized adventure context, The Green Hornet always took itself more seriously, and for good reason. It was usually a far superior show.

I can't put my finger on it, but movieweb has been so very pleasant since Sunday night. I wonder why :P

Yeah. I have little faith in DC adaptions at this point, save for batman and maybe wonder woman.

No. It will be an action with comedy elements. Think more serious Pineapple Express, sans weed.
Rogen's losing weight, he looks good for the part.
