Michael Showalter has been tapped by Warner Independent to direct the upcoming remake of the German horror comedy Night of the Living Dorks. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Roy Lee and Doug Davison are producing the film alongside Adam F. Goldberg.

The plot follows a trio of dorky friends that decide to perform an old voodoo ritual. When they later die in a car crash, they find themselves reanimated as zombies. Chris Bishop wrote the American adaptation of the screenplay.

The film does not have a set start date at this time.

Night of the Living Dorks was released in 2009.
