Michael Radford Set to Direct Taj

Michael Radford, best known for directing William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice and Il Postino, has just announced that he will direct Krishna Shah's script titled Taj. According to Variety, Michael A. Simpson and Judy Cairo are producing alongside Ken Atchity and Ch-Li Wong.

Taj is a love story between 17th century Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, the queen for whom he built the Taj Mahal as a mausoleum. Radford recently visited Mumbai to scout locations for his production of Taj.

Production on the project will start later this year in India.

William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice was released December 29th, 2004 and stars Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, Joseph Fiennes, Lynn Collins, Zuleikha Robinson, Kris Marshall, Charlie Cox, Heather Goldenhersh. The film is directed by Michael Radford.
