Michael Keaton is excited to return for Beetlejuice 2
"It's a reality in the sense that I met with Michael Keaton last week. We talked for a couple of hours and talked about big picture stuff. It's a priority for Warner Bros. It's a priority for (producer) Tim (Burton). Right now, I am writing an animated movie for Tim based on an idea of mine. Then I adapt Unholy Night [based on the upcoming book]. The third I am hoping is Beetlejuice in terms of writing schedule."
Seth Grahame-Smith also revealed how excited Michael Keaton was about return as the Ghost With the Most.
"He's been wanting to do it for 20 years and he'll talk to anybody about it who will listen. I really told him, I have a huge reverence for Tim and a huge reverence for that film in general. I don't think we should do it if we shit on the legacy. He agrees. So, right now, it remains to be seen, I have a couple of story ideas, but we're very early out."
We also reported last month that Tim Burton is considering directing Beetlejuice 2, but nothing has been made official yet.
Beetlejuice 2 is in development .

michael keatons beetlejuice character is what made the movie as good as it is today.making it a direct sequel where its been 25 years. is the biggest mistake no one wants to see a 40 year old lidia. the younger generation of that time has seen the movie and the cartoon. they will want to see the younger lidia and the b-man as friends.she was just as weird as him.make it a sequel of the cartoon.that cartoon is more famous then the original movie itself do you know how many people will be lined up to see a sequel of the beetlejuice cartoon even if its live action.toss out the idea of the 25 year sequel because its a very bad idea. no matter what director makes it. its going to be just as boring as adraham lincoln; vampire hunter.i think its awesome how if keaton is doing a movie at the time where beetlejuice 2 is starting keaton would drop all movies and jump onto the juice band wagon because he's been wanting to do a sequel of that character for over 20 years he did say it is his favorite.trust me theres more beetlejuice cartoon fans then the original movie.they'ed have to recast almost everyone besides keaton why there to old for the roles even wikipedia said so.

I cannot believe its been since 1988 that Beetlejuice came out! I was born in 1987, and started watching Beetlejuice in the early to mid 1990's all the time and i never got tired of it since then :P . I can't wait for the next movie to come out :) . If Beetlejuice ever gets re-released on Blu-ray, i wonder if there will be never before seen deleted scenes or an extended edition of Beetlejuice on Blu-ray.

I think this movie would be kinda cool to do a sequel to. It's not a serious movie at all. Just a good-ole, fun kinda movie that might just happen to scare ya and make you laugh at the same time.

There are lots of films that take all of the fun out of it. Like when they come out with sequel/prequels. such as 'AVP (2), dumb & dumber: when harry met floyd. beethoven 3/4/5 (dog movie), non-american pie(s). the lost boys 2, 3, 4..lol, child's play 3, 4, and many others . I think that when the same cast comes back. it keepsd those movies alive, but if they replace the main guy(s)/girl(s), that kills the mood. Like Rwilight may b the worst movie for any guy alive, but at least the same cast came back. same with harry potter.
Beetlejuice 2 would be a big fail if keaton didnt come back.

Keaton should have came back for batman 3, not kilmer . I dunno why keaton never made good movies other than "batman", his only other film that started good but ended bad was white noise. Then i lost track of his films, wasnt he in that other1 with the rock? i 4got the name, but he wasnt even the lead guy. So yea this guy should have gotten better roles or made better films as a whole., Sure he made lots in the 80s, sum in the 90s, but his only best was batman. batman returns. then POOF!, So Beetlejuice 2 should and will bring big cash into the box office, nobody knows JUST how great of an actor keaton really is or can be. (thats if the director doesnt fuk up this film) which can happen, lol but keaton sure as hell wont b the blame, he RULES

Like the film, don't want a sequel. Sequels that come more than 10 years later are usually substandard. See Godfather 3 and Indy 4 as examples.

This movie is flat out.."stupid" but in the early days when there was nothing good to see, this was 1 of those movies that actually kept us entertaining. or intrested.
with keaton coming back. This should b a great thing for the 1st film, because for those who havnt seen it or own it. will buy it for sure, knowing that the main guy is returning. At the sametime. we will get an upscale, to that1 film as well. such as better story, better fx/s, newer but fresh cast. it will be like johnny deep returning as edward scissorhands. with a complete new story/direction/cast.
