Michael Jackson Scene Nixed from Bruno Premiere
The scene in question involved Cohen's Bruno character interviewing Jackson's sister, LaToya Jackson about several topics including Michael. Cohen jokes about Michael's trademark high-pitched voice and the white glove he wore while performing.
"We decided to take it out tonight and we'll reassess before the release whether to keep it out," said director Larry Charles at the film premiere's afterparty last night.
The scene was included in press screenings that occurred before last night's premiere, and it was said that cutting the scene from every print could be an exhasuting process, since the film's release is just two weeks away.
We'll be sure to keep you posted on this matter as soon as we have more information.
Bruno was released July 10th, 2009 and stars Sacha Baron Cohen, Gustaf Hammarsten, Clifford BaƱagale, Chibundu Orukwowu, Chigozie Orukwowu, Josh Meyers, Toby Hoguin, Robert Huerta. The film is directed by Larry Charles.

Its Bruno! The creator of Borat! Its supposed to be offensive, its supposed to cause chaos. Leave the scene in.

Fair point Sly.
"...therefore would/could be interpreted as offensive..."
You're absolutely right. People, ourselves included, jump the gun to make a fuss over minute problems. Media and public frenzy.

i can't think of any safe way to do this, i mean they try to cut the scene and that is just labor intensive and too hard to do in 2 weeks, keeping in mind they have to mail the prints to the theater a week or so b4 the release, so that is more like one week. or keep it in and have all the wut will surely be negative media and press around the film for a joke that was originally planned when MJ was still kicking.
the best solution, if they really do want to get rid of the MJ bit is just to release it an extra week or two later.

not neccessarily Zz. bruno would obviously be hinting at MJ being gay for both MJ's and Bruno's taste in fashion, and that therefore would/could be interpreted as offensive...especially so soon after his death.
As for cutting the scene from the Premiere, it was a good choice. But to cut it from ALL the prints 2wks prior to the Release?? I'd have to agree with the film-makers that it'd be WAY too exhausting to try and seriously nix the scene from all the prints. So I also agree with FOY on this one, it'd definitely do better as a deleted scene on the DVD/blu-ray or in a revised cut which approximately 4-5 months later would be more appropriate than doing so now.

If they're editing it this close to the release, it must have been more offensive than they purported it to be in their statement.

Structure (ONSTRA)
wow. well I think it would be better to just release it in the directors edition on DVD. but not in the movie. deff. not in the movie. everyone, including me is just too sad to hear the sotry of the death of the king of pop. I don't think putting oil to the fire would be a good idea.
