Michael J. Bassett discusses Silent Hill: Revelation 3D
Finally, it's been announced and I can say officially what I've been eager to share with you all for a little while now; I've written and am going to be directing the new Silent Hill movie.
I love the games and was a huge admirer of the first film. Especially how Christophe Gans and his team managed to capture the look and feel of the world. I say, if it ain't broke don't fix it, so I'm bringing back as many of that core creative team as I can - but I'm probably going to bring just a little more darkness and fear into the mix as well. I love the complex mythology and psychological twists that Konami created so will do my best honour that aspect too.
I'm determined to deliver a film that builds on the qualities of the first film and draws on the best aspects of the games whilst giving the audience more nuanced characters, a compelling story and introducing some terrifying new monsters (as well as bringing back a few favourites) and, most important of all... just scaring the shit out of everyone.

The sequel follows Heather Mason, along with her father, who have been on the run - always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn't full understand. Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by horrific nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she's not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever.
Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is based on the Konami video game franchise and is scheduled to shoot this year in Toronto.
Silent Hill: Revelation 3D comes to theaters October 26th, 2012 and stars Adelaide Clemens, Kit Harington, Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean, Deborah Kara Unger, Carrie-Anne Moss, Malcolm McDowell. The film is directed by Michael J. Bassett.

@Papa_Panda - I know there was a definite choice for Clash of the Titans, advertised as both "available in 3D" and "Available in 2D'. I like the choice - I don't care much for 3D - it hurts my eyes and gives me a migraine and the pay off isn't enough for me to have to suffer either of those.
@mosorwvlad - THAT'S one reason why a lot of people don't like 3D. And no they won't "shut the hell up". Welcome to a "public forum". And, no, not EVERY movie gives you a choice.

PS. I'm not trying to be a bust your chops or anything but all they had was 3D. I live in somewhat a small town so we don't really get that many movies.

@morsorwvlad Really I have the possibility to chose? Was there a 2d Version of the latest Saw and Resident Evil Afterlife?

Not happy. I want the Silent Hill 2 plot! I mean, I'm happy they are going with SH3 storyline, but I wish they would actually go by the game series for once! Oh, well. Still will see it! xD

What the hell is wrong with 3D ? Don't like 3D don't watch 3D, watch 2D it simple. You have the option to choose the way you wan't to see the movie. So stop bitching about 3D, you know some people like 3D and guess what there are more people ho love 3D than people ho hate 3D. So shut the hell up about 3D because you have the posibility to choose.

The vocabulary of this quote far exceeds the intelligence of the first film.
Oh, wait: "...just scaring the sh*t out of everyone."
That's more like it.

I said it before on this site, the first film is the best video game-to-movie adaptation ever. Hopefully the sequel stays true to form.

Maniacal
The first film was atrocious, it may have had the semi look of the first game but it didn't have the feel or the heart. Not to mention ruining the story with a terrible female lead, leave this franchise alone i beg you.

Goodbye
I'm not going to complain about the 3D,doesnt do any good to complain about it any damn way so.
Anyway.Glad to see this coming around.Though I thought the first one was crap,I'm willing to give this a try just because I'm a big fan of the games.

The first film was very beautifully shot so in that respect Bassett has a lot to live up to. Jodelle Ferland was great in that movie and she is a brilliant young actress (Tideland anyone?) Its been a while since i have played the games but didn't heather appear in the 3rd game? the one that took place in and around the shopping mall?

It was good till I saw the 3D. Seriously Hollywood it's overrated. You need to follow Nolan's steps and just say no.
