Michael Ferris and John Brancato Set for xXx: The Return of Xander Cage

xXx: The Return of Xander Cage is putting a foot forward with Terminator Salvation writers Michael Ferris and John Brancato in early negotiations to write a script that will reteam Vin Diesel with director Rob Cohen.

According to Variety, the writing team began talks after pitching their take last Friday for a new installment in the action series to Columbia Pictures presidents Matt Tolmach and Doug Belgrad.

Producer Joe Roth got Diesel and Cohen to agree to a reteam earlier this year. Columbia moved quickly to lock up the property, getting first look because of its past relationship with xXx generator Revolution Studios. Diesel and Cohen teamed on the 2002 original, which starred Diesel as an extreme sports enthusiast drafted by the government for a dangerous mission.

Diesel and Cohen sat out the first sequel, XXX: State of the Union, which starred Ice Cube and was directed by Lee Tamahori.

No production date has been set.

XXX: The Return of Xander Cage was released in 2011 and stars Vin Diesel, Samuel L. Jackson. The film is directed by Rob Cohen.

    Vin has done his fir share i think. He has the comedy and the action adventure. i dont think he is exactly qualified for a romantic film. But Diesel is definitely better than Ice Cube and his waste of a time xXx movie

    Killerman is right on one thing, I could swear that Sammi Jackson's character said Xander was dead. The 1st XXX wasn't even that good, and I couldn't even sit through the entire 2nd one. I look forward to hearing how bad this bombs. That being said, he may not be the best actor, but he's had some entertaing flicks. I personally really enjoyed the firt Fast and the Furious and Pitch Black.

    these films are awesome, the first rocked. the second well it was lame. I personally knew it wasn't the end, a bogus cover story to make his enemies think he's dead. Nuth said.
    he may not be the best actor, but it's work for him. I guess he took a long break, spent a lot of money and needed more to live on and do what he thinks is best for him.

    Sh*t. Not Diesel again. They said he was dead on state of the union. The first one he did sucked, just like all his movies. You know what. He is the new version of Steven Siegal. Same acting skills, sh*tty movie quotes-"Shaken and stirred" give me a f*cking break. I can't believe people still want this guy after seeing his terrible performance in Babylon A.D. I would't be surprised if you see this guy in a OUT FOR JUSTICE sequel.
