According to web rumors, Alcon Entertainment is eyeing Michael Fassbender to play the lead in their new thriller Prisoners, replacing Leonardo DiCaprio who was in talks for the part.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Incendies director Denis Villeneuve had taken on the project and now it looks like an offer has gone out to Michael Fassbender (Magneto in X-Men: First Class) to play the lead role of Keller Dove.

The film centers on a desperate father who turns vigilante and abducts the man he suspects is behind the disappearance of his eight year old daughter and her best friend, after cops fail to find the little girls and release the suspect.

No production date has been set.

Prisoners comes to theaters in 2012 and stars Hugh Jackman. The film is directed by Denis Villeneuve.
