Michael Douglas is finalizing a deal to star in the CBS Films comedy Last Vegas, which is described as a senior citizens version of The Hangover.

The actor was originally in talks for the project three years ago, but he backed away after being diagnosed with throat cancer in August 2010. The story centers on four aging, lifelong friends, who reunite for a wedding. The actor will play a ladies man who is marrying a woman half his age, and is in denial about growing old. Back in April 2010, we reported that Jack Nicholson was offered this role, but it seems a deal never materialized.

Jon Turteltaub is directing from a screenplay by Dan Fogelman (Crazy Stupid Love). Actors Dustin Hoffman and Christopher Walken were mentioned for two of the other roles, although both are said to have scheduling conflicts.

The studio is hoping to get production started sometime this fall in Las Vegas.

Last Vegas comes to theaters November 1st, 2013 and stars Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, Mary Steenburgen, Michael Douglas, Kevin Kline, Dan Owens, Jerry Ferrara, Romany Malco. The film is directed by Jon Turteltaub.
