Michael Cera Holding Out of Arrested Development Film?

It seems that one actor in particular may be arresting the development of a TV series adaptation. According to Fancast, Arrested Development series creator Mitch Hurwitz recently spoke to the rumors that Will Arnett and Michael Cera were the lone holdouts for the feature film, and it seems that Cera is the only one.

"I don't want to talk about who is holding out right now because we might still work that out and I don't want to pressure anyone through the press. Although I will say that Will Arnett is gung-ho, so there's a big clue!"

Hurwitz also said that he won't get to work on the script once his cast is fully locked in place, but he did drop a few notes on what he'd like to do with the story.

"I think in some respect it would have to pick up where the show left off," he said. "Maybe the benefit of that would be, if nothing else, just to recap everything. There are a couple of ways to get into it. I was even thinking about a big animated sequence to start. Kind of like how the Blake Edwards movies used to start - to kind of catch everyone up."

oh i wasn't saying its a bad character, i'm saying it is pissy of him not to want to do the movie based on the show that made his career. and yes George Michael and Michael's relationship is the focal point of the show and without it the movie would be seriously lacking.

however i would go see a movie purely bout Gob and Buster, they r too damn funny.

He may be the same character in every film, but it's a pretty funny character and this was most people's introduction to him outside of Superbad. I really feel that the story is about family, and that George Michael and his father are the lynchpin of that dynamic. This doesn't seem like the kind of movie where they could just explain away his absence by being at boarding school or something.

We don't know his side of the story...but let me just say that whatever it is, I don't care! AD is WAY too important for any of his lame ass excuses!

    SCREW YOU MIKE!!!
you are not that big a star, nor are you so talented that you should hold back an entire production, especially when everybody and their mums are already on board. as Gob said, C'MON!!!

There was a rumor not to long back that Cera was going to quit acting...anybody remember that? An AD movie would be great...Maybe his TV dad, Jason Bateman could talk some sense into him...

for real AD made his career, he plays the same role in every movie as he played in AD. and to defend him a lil bit in Superbad, he was a good straight man, u need a straight man for ur whacky Jonah Hill character ur know.

but i heard that he thinks the show ended where it should have and that a movie isn't necessary, which doesn't make sense cuz the show ends with a cliff hanger and a tease about a movie.

that would be such an upset for me if cera dosen't reprise his role. as a fanatic fan of the series, it would be disapointing if any of the original cast didn't come back. still looking foward to seeing this movie though. come on george michael, get it together!

Ah yes....cuz he's too busy prolly doing ground breaking amazing films such as "Juno" and "Nick and Nora's Amazing Playlist"....

I hate this guy. I mean...he just sucks. The only good things he's ever done were Arrested Development and Superbad. And he really wasn't that great in Superbad - Jonah Hill, Bill Heder, Seth Rogan and Christopher Mintz-Plauuse made that movie.
