Michael Caine says The Dark Knight Rises script is not finished yet
The Dark Knight Rises will go into production this spring, although actor Michael Caine recently revealed that Christopher Nolan hasn't finished writing the script yet. Here's what the actor had to say below.

"I talked to Chris last week because I said I hadn't gotten a script and he said, 'I haven't finished it.' And he said, 'I'll finish it in two weeks.'"

He also talked about his new co-stars Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, and Marion Cotillard.

"Marion Cotillard is in it? Nobody tells me these things. Oh shoot. I didn't know. Well, Anne Hathaway is Catwoman isn't she? Well that's fabulous. Tom Hardy is going to be great too [as Batman nemesis Bane]. He's a tough British actor."

Michael Caine also talked about voicing Finn McMissile in the Pixar sequel Cars 2.

"That's what attracted me was being in a spy movie. I'll tell you what else attracted me is his name, Finn McMissile. It sounds like he's going to get into trouble. He can get into a little trouble, you know. I'm not a very good driver. But you see, I don't have to drive cause I am a car. That's the way I get around it."

The Dark Knight Rises was released July 20th, 2012 and stars Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Liam Neeson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

Wow, Batman Begins better than TDK? I just don't agree with that myself but everyone's got their own tastes and that's what's so great about movies imo. I loved both myself but feel TDK was a far superior film of the two and feel the third will easily be as strong as TDK. Even if it isn't, I just don't see Nolan making a Batman movie that isn't at least as strong as the first one. I have no doubts that it will make a ton of money whether it breaks records or not.

@joshua, no one expected TDK to be that successful at the box office. Most of us are expecting a great ending to a trilogy. We don't really mind if it does or doesn't surpass box-office records. I could be wrong on other users but thats my opinion

You guys should check out this "TDK" forum about that very subject. It asked what people really thought of the film with all the hype and "omg omg omg" reaction having passed. It was interesting to hear the caveats...

Lol. Just like @thedude-abides, people have several valid reasons for not enjoying TDK, so it's all good as long as they're not trolling, which you obviously aren't, @Lautarous.

It seems I'm gonna be a lonely voice here. I must say that I find "The Dark Knight" one of the most overrated films in a long time. I mean it.

I do like "Batman Begins", it has a better narrative structure. David S. Goyer and Christopher Nolan delivered a much coherent story and well written script for this 2005 film than they both (with Jonathan Nolan) did in the sequel of 2008.

Chris Nolan has been working for some time on this new script. But "I'll finish it in two weeks" it's not a sign for a quality job. I could be wrong. I hope.

  19. the Narrator

Lol @corey, I'd love to, but I haven't the time friend. At least, not to focus on a subject like TDK and review it thoroughly. Thanks for the props though. And yeah, I am well aware they "messed up' with Cars, which is what I'm saying; Nolan is just as human as everyone else, so while this will most likely not fail, I'd rather folks not go all "whatever he decides, I'm game for" route because as fans we're entitled to our opinions, and filmmakers often take a cue from our reactions to certain news bits. All I'm really saying is that everyone should be level headed in terms of anticipating the film, not going in either way, but just being reasonably anticipated.

@ejk1, very true. What I usually mean to say @dan1, is that people who think this sequel will surpass TDK in terms of epicness (I'm making it a word), grandeur, and scope, tend to be banking on the thought that the film HAS to overdo it's predecessor, and follow a similar path story wise, which it absolutely doesn't. As @ejk1 said, this can be a "who-dun-it?" of films, and I wouldn't be surprised if it went that route, going back to a personal tone. If the film is well crafted and it turns out good, by all means one can call it more enjoyable than the other two, which is similar to saying it's "better". While they shouldn't be compared in that light, as I'v stated before, they will be compared nonetheless, and we'll all have our favorites of the trilogy. They will probably remain different animals, but at the end of they're all in the same kettle. That's my compromise with the majority of folk out there.

P.S. Thanks for making me feel predictable man. :P

This is such great news. Thank god it isnt finished yet. I want Nolan to piece this together slowly and come up with another epic.

  21. slysnide

Agreed @block: Production photos of him should make their way online this summer. The same was true for the Joker, with the first photos being of the interrogation scene. And Bane--unlike Joker--runs the risk of being gawdy. Given we doubt that'll be the case, then a visual would clear up a lot of those worries.

Cats and dogs are different animals, and yet people tend to prefer one over the other :P

Besides, Nolan could take TLH and make a very good introverted story. I've always advocated for a more personal movie to end the trilogy, and if Levitt is indeed Alberto, I feel that my wish may come true.

Whoa, hold on now, @ejk1. You might get a lecture from @narrator for saying that lol. *cue 'they are different animals' argument* :P

  25. ejk1

Well, I believe that Nolan could mess this up, but I think if he takes all of these villains, and pointing them in one direction, like The Long Halloween, then it could end up better than TDK.

    2 years agoby @ejk1Flag

  26. Dan

And amazingly, Cars 2 is on the way. Sigh.

@narrator: Pixar can mess up. Its called "Cars". lol. Oh, and if you watch TDK...review it if you haven't. You almost never review movies and your Inception review was great.

  28. the Narrator

Side Note: Nolan isn't without flaws, so when I hear people say, "In Nolan, I trust", it's the equivalent of the people who say Pixar can do no wrong. Everyone can mess up, so while I'm looking forward to this film like crazy, we can still call raise concerns if they come, and obviously pray for Nolan and Co to go out with a bang.

In fact, I think I'll watch TDK right now. :P

I just hope that it turns out good. Although I do trust Nolan, there seem to be a lot of characters being cast in this film and i am worried that it will end up somewhat like X-Men 3.
