Michael Bay is in negotiations to direct the fourth installment for Paramount
After Michael Bay completes his next project Pain and Gain, the filmmaker is looking to team up with Paramount for the fourth installment, although they do not have a closed deal. An announcement could come as early as next week.
The details are being kept under wraps, but it is being reported that it is definitely not a prequel, and that it will delve deeper into Transformers canon to mine older characters and lore.
No production date has been set.

Maybe a different director will direct Transformers 4. The movie studios for Transformers 4 might not want Michael Bay to make Transformers 4, considering that they have not closed a deal yet.

he can be a producer instead, all I want to see is other directors to get the chance to film a Transformer film. I find this franchise is just as entertaining as the R. E films.

As far as I'm concerned this franchise it still not complete without Hotshot and Unicron.

It's messed up that even though a director decides to direct another sequel in a movie franchise no matter how many people love it or hate it, and some people would rather have that director work on the sequel to another movie franchise, such as Bad Boys 3 which is what someone mentioned in the lower comments. Just because a film director decides to continue a movie franchise further by making another sequel, doesn't mean that they won't make a sequel to continue the movie franchise you all like. It just means they won't work on it till later in the future.

The last Transformers film was so damn tedious!

I had a feeling that this would be what was going to end up happening. It was only a matter of time until we were to find out that Michael Bay wanted to do Transformers 4. I liked Transformers and Transformers Dark of the Moon, lets hope that Transformers 4 will be a good addition to the Transformers movie franchise.

How about a film that explains the lack of cohesion in the previous three?

You know, as much as I enjoy the films, a 5 year break would do some good. It's not like Transformers are going anywhere or die in the public eye

@rocknrolla i agree. i was looking forward to BB3 after TF3 and also maybe some NEW bay material, but now it looks like it will be ANOTHER 2 years at least before that even comes close to happening. while i do like the transformer movies (f*ck the haters) i would rather he do a few different movies before he does another TF movie. i was really looking forward to BB3.

Just retire this franchise already! Get someone else to direct the next one! Anyone but Michael Bay! We all know what he's gonna do with the fourth movie: MORE BAYSPLOTIONS!!!

Two movies was enough, then they made a third one, and now a fourth. I hope they are joking. The only reason it is as successful as it is is because of the special effects... The story, plot, boring.

Well I guess we can kiss Bad Boys 3 goodbye then. I know most people hated the second one but I loved it. Better than the first in many ways in my opinion & was looking forward to at least one more but that's prob not gonna happen now.

I may like Bay at times but he needs to direct something else for a change. Get someone like Peter Jackson or Steven Spielberg to direct it.

well sed darthboromir, altho "Destroy" mite b abit harsh choice of words, i jus want them to get serious with it, aim for an older audience with a screenplay with more depth, less of Bays promo style way of filming, less cheese humor more bad lauguege .... the list could go on!!

Tell Michael Bay to GO AWAY. He does not need to destroy this franchise ANY FURTHER!!!!!

not sure if this a good or bad idea, but really, who else could do it? I thought the third was a lot better than the second one, and it is too soon for a reboot.
