Michael Bay reveals we'll get to know the robots a lot better in the 3rd installment
With the massive box-office success of Michael Bay's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen this summer, it was inevitable that Transformers 3 would follow and now we have some new details on this third film. The Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex Blog recently spoke with Bay about what moviegoers can expect from Transformers 3. Here's an excerpt from the article.

So can we expect more thunderous sound in the third installment? Although the number of robots increased significantly from the first film for the second, the third film -- which will hit theaters in summer 2011, won't be as robot-heavy and there will be fewer explosions, a tight-lipped Bay said after the Q+A.

"There will be a nice crescendo ending," Bay said. "It gets much more into the robot character. The last time you kind of met a few of the robots; this time you're gonna get a much cooler landscape."

The Fallen says it all. The second films of this movie, for those who've just heard of "Transformers", would think that it is probably the "thing-to-talk-about" of the year. But to those who've been fans of these cypertronians and who's been with them since the beginning, would think that this is all a pile of sh*t. The End.

    Hey Fans,

I have recently received word from a few friends of mine, that the movie "Transformers 3" will consist of a War for Cybertron." I hope you all like it.

    Thank You All,

    Matt.

lol to Fallen's #2-5. I couldn't agree with you more. Visually, it's one of the best effects movies to date, killer action scenes that rock your socks off. Everything else seemed like pointless, confusing, perverted filler.

  4. The Narrator: The Better Man

Guys guys guys... Michael Bay wasn't the main problem with Transformers.

Main problem 1: EHREN KRUGER! That guy f*cked this up. Orci and Kurtzman didn't focus on this because they we're busy with Star Trek and Fringe, so that explains why the dialogue and story here was crap compared to the first film.

Main Problem 2: Kruger then decided to use as filler and half a minute laughs put in the raunchiest stupidest and corniest pervert jokes ever said by robots or around them.

Main Problem 3: Michael Bay and his rush to get this under way...oh snap, that rhymes. He wanted it done fast because he wanted to do BB3 at the time and the studios only gave him 2 years to make this FX heavy film, so he ignored the rules of filmography and brought on another writer during the writers strike, because Kruger was cheaper and easier where as the other two cared about the script (and payment) and wouldn't really write much. This then left little time to plot out a crappy film, so they packed it with action to entertain and have cool scenes, and they didn't have time to recheck the pile of sh*t in their hands.

Main Problem 3: Steven Speilberg and producers actually weren't checking up on them so much this time around, and when all was said and done, all Steven said was, "Awesome." Thats not anywhere near as much as he said about the first one. I mean he wouldn't stop talking about its eye candy and witty dialogue so I was a bit skeptical from that point on, and rightfully so.

Main Problem 4: Ramon Rodriguez's character was the stupidest addition to this film besides the robot counterparts themselves. I mean seriously. And then the robots of course... no one cared for them save Optimus.

Main Problem 5: the underlying relatable story. I mean the first was about a boy and his car, and this one was supposed to be about a boy and spreading his wings, but they incorporated it so cheesily. I had to grimace when Sam kept telling his parents to go and they wouldn't, and yada yada yada, he died then I winced some more because I knew he would come back to life.

Overall, the second was a fun action mindless film, that had... 3.5 stars a best. I am simply saying they could have done so much better. If they fix these problems or at least some of them then we will be going back on track.

Again with the Hayden Christensen thing and Paul Walker??? They are both terrible!!!! It's like Jessica Alba on screen, she is nice to look at but come on, in a real movie?? She is terrible!

ha, I'm just putting names down that I like and it would be better than a Bay film. The cartoon versions are meant for kids, now the films are too adult for a younger crowd.
As I stated below, a single film goes a long way unless that director wants to do a trilogy.
Raimi would be the right choice for this or a fantasy setting film like D&D, hell he'll be great for that series besides Peter Jackson and a few others.

I think a Sam Raimi-directed Transformers film would be good, Todd.

todd i do not think that some serious director would like to direct transformers-it just can not be serious-i mean giant transforming robots, half of them are good and other half evil, -please-it is for kids-and even acton is stupid

Or how about no humans and just robots.
Megatron only wants to rule the universe and wipe out all humans.
A few other directors should take over leaving Bay as only a name. Exe producer.
I would watch a Peter Jackson version any day or a Raimi, David Goyer, Chris Nolan, or J. J Adrams.
I'm fine with trilogies , why not a single film every once in a while and let others tell a single story instead of three long films.

It's not so much about character development as it is about giving the bots their defining moments, such as, like I've been saying, making Optimus a badass leader throughout and Starscream screwing over Megatron. As Chad said, it would be cool if Starscream betrayed Megatron and joined the Autobots. But, ya never know...maybe Bay can direct a robot's character more than he can a human's lol

    2 years agoby @insertusernamehereFlag

  13. Chad Vital

I think it'd be rad INSERT, if Starscream betrays Megatron somehow, like either just f*cking him over and leaving him to die, or possibly convincing all the decepticons to follow him instead of Megatron because something Megatron has done in the film etc.

Bay doesnt know how to do character development just look at Bad Boys 2 and Pearl Harbor just to see that all he knows how to do is Popcorn flicks

I'm not expecting a serious tone...I'm just expecting more emphasis on the robots. Optimus as a badass leader, Starscream finally kicking Megatron's ass, etc.

(Insert Username Here) i know what they can do, but you know what-michael bay siad for the second movie same sh*t like he just said here. I think you are smart guy so i can not believe that you actually believe in michael bay-and how serious movie with giant robots from another planet can be?

I think we need to know more about the robots. I like Megan Fox, she's the it girl but a little less of the clothes stripping and tonguing. More action, more gadgets, and effects. Peter Cullen is awesome. I do wish a hot guy other that Shia. What about Jenson Ackles or that kid that played the lead on the Covenant or Hayden Christiansen or Paul Walker. They need a hot guy for Shia's part.

I agree with Angry Person, more story line, more action, less robot balls, less robots humping Megan Fox's leg, less robots tonguing Shia, and less dirty jokes.

  21. Mutant

I like Bays interpretation of the Transformers. I just think that once he's done with the third, another big time director should take the wheel for a while and have much better story lines, character development and to stop using Shia.
He's all right but it seems to me that he needs acting lessons still.

totally with AngryPerson. 2 was over-the-top, middle school humor that was an absolute waste of time. as for the robot "character" - shouldn't be surprising since Bay introduced us to Autobot Heaven in part 2 (another "WHAT?!?!?" moment). it would be good to actually have some additional info or attachment to the other robots (other than Bumble Bee). some actual robot dialogue and insight (like Megatron and Starscream arguing some more) and not so much back story monologuing like in part 2.

No warhawk I saw Revenge of the Fallen and I absolutely hated it. One of the worst I've seen in quite some time, so I dont think that this one is gonna be any better, Probably just same story robots fighting each other to save the world and shia labeouf and meagan fox ending up happily together.

It's also a good thing they could be tinkering with the ending. The last two movies had basically the same ending, but in different locations.

Why are you laughing, Narzion? Targeting the robot character would be the best thing this movie could do. It needs to cement Optimus as a badass leader for the entirety of the movie, not just an hour of it and have him die. This is also the perfect chance to develop Megatron and Starscream's relationship, and possibly have Starscream actually DO SOMETHING when Megatron treats him like a bitch. It's just a question of whether Bay can get past his love affair with explosions and actually come through on this statement...he said there would be a lot more Transformers in the sequel, and we all know he kept his word on that, so there's still hope lol

I'm glad he is gonna target the robot characters, I smiled when I read that. I mean, if you think about it, the only ones you care about are BumbleeBee (cause he is the only one who has any emotion), and of course Optimus with his honor and bravery. If the other autobots die, you don't care lol. I want to feel like crap if one of them dies, ya know? I think Bay might have been getting a lot of bad rep on his blog or something since this seems out of place for him to say. If he can deliver on what he says, I'm sure it will be the best one yet. Everyone learns from their mistakes, and everyone talks epic amounts of sh*t on him, which isn't really fair to begin with, since none of us make good movies like he makes. Seems kinda immature of us to diss on somebody who has an awesome job and makes money doing it. I'm sure there will be action no different than the first film, but with more care to the actual dang robots this time around. Which means less plot holes as well. I also thought he was hinting at Cybertron when he said "cool landscape" as well as JJHOLLOWAY commented on. Good news thus far :)
